John Masefield - The Blacksmith

An oral reading of the poem, 'The Blacksmith', written by John Masefield. It was published in 1917 in the collection titled 'Lollingdon Downs, and Other Poems'. A few years prior to its publication, he worked as an orderly at a British hospital during WWI. In the intervening years until 1917, he lived with his family at Lollingdon Farm in Berkshire, the location on which served as inspiration for the collection.
