Your words communicate so much more than just their meaning. According to social psychologist Dr. James Pennebaker, there is important information hidden in the words you use. They can reveal whether you are telling the truth, depressed, or even predict behavior. Having authored nine books and over 300 scientific articles, he is one of the most cited researchers in the field of social science.

As a pioneer of expressive writing therapy, Pennebaker’s research has uncovered links between written language use and recovery from trauma. He shares how expressive writing can help reevaluate sources of grief and trauma to put you on the path toward a positive life correction and achieve closure.

Thank you Nelda and James for this short. Something upsetting has cropped up for me this week that goes to confusing me about my past and future. I have James Pennebaker’s book on kindle (not my fav format) and I thought Id have to get down to re-Reading it and dealing with the rupture to my life narrative this incident has caused. But this short film drills down to a synopsis, so I can get started right now. I am really grateful. It’s funny that my dream last night was of not being able to speak.

Do we throw away the paper after writing or keep it read it and recite it?
