Here is my cover of the Los Straitjackets version of Floyd Cramer's instrumental Last Date. I'm playing a 2012 American Standard Strat through Logic Pro amp modeling. I made the backing track myself in Logic Pro.

An amazing, yet little-known fact: Floyd Cramer was one of Jimi Hendrix's main musical influences.

Jimi lived in Nashville in the early-'60s, so he was very well attuned to country music and all of Nashville's A-list studio musicians (Floyd Cramer being one of them, of course), a detail he mentioned in several interviews.

Floyd's trademark "slip-note" style is a fundamental component of Jimi's playing, mostly in his spectacular rhythm guitar work, but also in some of his solos—in fact, the first half of Jimi's solo in "The Wind Cries Mary" is an unmistakable adaptation of the main melody to "Last Date."

I love any guitar version of this song. I remember it well as a 17 year old listening to the Ventures play it on their 1961 album Another Smash. The Ventures and Duane Eddy got me interested in playing the guitar. I still play today at 75.

Is it even possible to hear a piece like this one in this age?? God, I'm glad I'm old as dirt.

Conway added words to this. Both are amazing.

Really like this one. Going to learn it. Cramer, Boots Randolph and Chet Atkins were always my favorites when they got together for an album.

Really nice job on this song. I have always had some sort of connection to this tune as played on the piano, probably because I was around 4 or 5 when I first heard it. Now as a guitarist I can learn to play it for myself and others. Mega-THANKS for tabbing this out and sharing the tabs as well; saved me lots of work transcribing note for note. Again, awesome playing.

It was my sister’s and brother in law’s song. They got killed in a plane crash on September 9, 1984. Left 4 kids Ages 3, 6, 7, and 9. They were 30 and 31.
They met as teens. I recall them dancing. I was 14 then. The first few notes made me emotional. I knew immediately what this song was
