That's why I use a VT prussik as all the negatives are removed or minimised with a small core and a technora sheath.

Thanks for sharing Jason! What diameter is the orange rope you've used in your videos? I use the Hollowblock for rappelling but I find that an auto block with three wraps on the 9.5 mm rope we use slips when weighted but four wraps is too tight and makes rappelling difficult. Any recommendations?

Hello! Do you have any idea how to open a screw lock carabiner, after catching a heavy climber and getting completely stuck? We had to open the end knot of the rope and pull it through the reverso. My carabiner and reverso are still on my harness and don't seem they want to get off any time soon :/

I find myself using beal jammies more than the hollowblock. It's nice for jumaring though

Interesting practice point as to using it as a sling, good to know. What about as a PAS girthed/bowlined into the harness?

I broke one of these by pulling it apart with my bare hands. I will never use one again and always recommend against them now.

Apparently, lots of sand (desert sandstone environment) is really bad for them too.

A basic piece of accessory cord costs is about $1 in the length of a prussik loop, the hollow block costs about $15.

The short version of the hollow block is an awkward length for a three wrap autoblock hitch around a double strand of rope. For those that insist on using them, after the first couple wraps, a twist or two instead of a third wrap is the Goldilocks length adjustment you can make.
