I think the biggest reason why she didn't reveal herself publicly is because the diamonds will automatically shut it down since they look down on her, they would just come and grab her and imprison her and the resistance would die down. Even when it was rose they still didn't care that much, it took some very drastic measures for them to act. Also about garnet and amethyst I think she couldn't bare the thought of them resenting her if they reacted negatively especially since garnet was one of the first gems to join her and the last to still be by her side. For spinal I am not sure but it would be a big risk if she was caught as she would lose her few friends that remained plus I think the teleport to her location was broken. (I am not sure) . I love your art so much btw!

Pink told Pearl in one episode that "Blue and Yellow don't care. They never have. This is Pink Diamond's colony" while taking on the form of Rose. And "If this really is my planet, I want to give it to the Crystal Gems." So yeah. Yellow's continuous ignorance and Blue's babying only shattered their bond. No pun intended. So she had to take drastic measures. And required her to keep her real identity a secret. She didn't want to look back to her status as a Diamond. She found like-minded gems and saw the beauty of the world that was about to be destroyed. She wanted to focus on the present. And since the other Diamonds didn't listen, no matter how she pleaded, she faked her shattering and took on the form of a Rose Quartz when she reformed. And this fake shattering is what makes Pearl repulsed by eating, shape shifting and that's why she can't accept how Pink (or Rose, call her whatever you want) didn't tell her about Lion.

PD/Rose quartz had the best character development in the series, even if the things she did are unforgivable. She’s one of my favorites both character and design wise

I think Pink Diamond is a fascinating character and it's a pity that most people just label her as a horrible villain, when it's not as black and white as that. She did horrible things, but she also helped a lot of people and tried to be a better version.

The abandonment of spinel and her becoming rose are two very seperate arcs

If it's helps her rough development went down like this.

Brat diamond that has major inferiority issues and feels alienated from her own family gets multiple distractions thrown at her until one sticks long enough for her to realize that there is more to life than getting the attention of those she admires. She turns into rose as a form of escapism and stumbled into relationships that, at first, mean little, but grow into something incredibly dear and important THIS family lovrs HER and she in turn loves them and she is perfectly okay leaving behind the identity she never felt comfortable with. Rose doesn't start the rebellion, rose slips into it as she isn't used to getting her way. In the end standing up for what she wants, making a mess and annoying the diamonds until they cave in is something she is used to. While they think rose is a stranger she perceives them on a more intimate level. The reason rose was so different is not because she herself was a diamond it's because her relationship to the other diamonds is just in such a stark contrast.

In the end the war was over and she realized there is very little she can do now. Going back and admitting to get fault would only land her in timeout. So she does the only reasonable thing. Live her life. Form relationships. Become a mother. And leave, for good this time.

Pink was the youngest of 4 sisters who were all incredibly successful and powerful. She was so determined to be like them, have a planet and a colony so she could feel important and not like a child to be babysat. In the movie, we see her face when she's leaving Spinel in the garden. She'd grown tired of Spinel, ready to move on to something else. A kid wanting something else to do, something else to play with. She discarded Spinel at the first sign of getting the planet she wanted. My friend says she ghosted Spinel, and really had not intention of going back to her. And then Pink started see what was going to happen to Earth, and all the amazing things that were there. The freedom of having fusions like Garnet, the child like wonder and acceptance without really understanding what all of that meant. She really thought as Rose Quartz, she could leave Pink behind and be the gem she thought was better. Again, she never thought about anything she was going to leave behind as Pink, because she wanted nothing to do with that part of herself anymore. Pink was not a great person, she was stubborn, and bored, and didn't handle being told no well. Rose was a leader who was still crafting who she was while being on earth, and other than Pearl, she thought Pink Diamond was a shattered (heh) image, to be used no longer.

Pink was a bad person before earth, she was taught that her life was worth more than common gems and was abused in order to fit the other diamonds expectations. She tried shutting down the colony as Pink Diamond but she had the lowest status of all the diamonds so they just dismissed her and told her to finnish what she'd started since she had been begging and demanding them to let her have her own colony. Pink was trying to do good but her view of life and others emotions was obscured. Pink resulted to war so the Earth and gems like Garnet could be free, bubbled Bismuth because she didn't want the other diamonds- her family- to be shattered, for Bismuth to find out she wasn't a quarts and/or shatter her and didn't know how else to deal with the situation, and she left Spinel because the diamonds taught her to only see Spinel as a toy. And even if she wanted to go back to for Spinel she was busy with a WAR, and what good would a gem that was naive and and silly in nature do to help her win it? She'd be a burden. And when the war was over the Galaxy Warp was destroyed so homeworld gems couldn't get to them and any ship left on Earth was badly damaged.

"Why didn't she tell others" this is my own interpretation of it. I personally really struggle with saying specific things, not to hide the truth from others but because im afraid of consequences especially of things I regret or think I could have handled better. Avoiding talking about them no matter how important they are feels like an easy option especially when you're trying to avoid associating your current self to your past. Nothing indicated Pink felt that way but that doesn't mean we should assume she hid the truth on purpose because "f*ck everyone". I don't feel comfortable with people villainising common human behavior when pretty much everyone had made the wrong choices that have led to something really bad, or abandoned a friend. Idk, it stresses me out how black and white people see it.

I believe that Pink eventually forgot about Spinel, considering when she left Spinel, that's when she got her first planet. I think with all the duties the Diamonds have when it comes to their colonies might affect their attention, so all of that coupled together with the fact she changed to be Rose, started a war from shattering herself, and stuff might have lead her to just forget. Could also be because Spinel was viewed as a toy by the Diamonds that was meant to distract Pink. I don't think Pink ever intended to exactly abandon her, but she sadly did.

This brings me back to the time I read a comic where Pink Diamond tells Spinel something along the lines of "You remind me of someone I hate", referring to herself before she matured, and I can't help but think about it every time someone mentions Spinel being abandoned.
