We go through the picture settings in the user menu on LG's 2018 OLED TV, and explain the specific controls for the Alpha 9 processor's decontouring filter, black frame insertion (BFI), "Logo luminance adjustment" to reduce the risk of image retention and burn-in, as well as dynamic tone-mapping in HDR Game Mode.

The specific model demonstrated here is the LG 65-inch W8 Wallpaper OLED TV, but the menu settings will be similar throughout the company's 2018 OLEDs including the B8, C8, E8 and G8.

Thank you so much Vincent! I've been checking in here everyday day since CES-2018 waiting for you to comment on the new 8-series:) Very good info from you as always. I had a B7 in my house for 4 weeks but returned it yesterday. 4k DV was fantastic! But I come from Panasonic last gen VT plasma series. The B7 had just a tad too much banding on regular HD broadcast. So I really hope the C8 and Alpha 9 will sort that out. Looking forward to your in depth review on the C8. You are my nr. 1 reviewer! Greetings from Norway.

The question is are they bringing those updates to the 2017 oled’s? At least the game mode updates to the 2017 oled’s.

Real world Vincent. 2017 C7 to 2018 C8 is the processor a huge leap to justify an upgrade. Or can we expect a firmware update to bring these new settings etc over. Thanks.

About Black Frame Insertion and Game Mode update for the 2018 models. When will you update the 2017 models with same features? You made HDR bad on 2017 models in gaming mode with a patch. Now I need to buy 2018 model for the correct HDR in gaming mode? Come on LG....

Good job LG, keeping the input lag low no matter what! All the new features are welcome however the lack of separate decontouring filter is a bummer...but still, for me this is the overall best package this year.

The Logo Luminance Adjustment should be added to 2017 models. If LG doesn't update this feature, it's just lame. 2016/2017 oleds should have had this feature from the start!
