We always enjoy going to Lancaster Pa Over the years the transition has taken away the country side The Amish have some of the best food around
I just hope there’s a limit on the development of that area. So peaceful and serene !

I love stately temporary office, even with the car noises going by.

Erik, the E-scooters are interesting. Going back 4-5 years and they were new to L.C. and very undercover in the community. The wife and I were walking the bike trail in Quarryville when we saw our first one. An older teen was blasting toward us, not paying attention until he spotted us. He panicked and left off the throttle, kicking away on the ground to make the scooter go, while pretending that he wasn't just going wide open throttle up a hill, moments ago. Shortly after that I spotted another youth about crash, when it was obvious that he was blasting up hill with both feet on the scooter and passed a few very stern looking old Amish ladies that were clearly giving him a group scowl. Back then, we took a buggy ride with some out of town folks, and the Amish driver was very disapproving of any electric scooter nonsense.

Now they are a lot more mainstream. I've seen a young Amish mother with an e-scooter and a trailer attached for her very young kids. I've seen everybody from teens to elders succumb to the lure of the electric throttle, lol. On a few occasions, I've seen a very high tech. looking kick scooter, an oversized, stylish single tube aluminum frame and a very large hub motor on the front. They were either built or heavily modified by some local Amish, and they are very FAST. I've seen more than one young adult blast by my place in Strasburg, going well over the speed limit on one of these.

The vistas of that region took me back.
I grew up near Kutztown PA, plenty of Amish and Mennonites, my stepdad was Pennsylvania Dutch.

My family (who has Amish lineage) runs an auction business. The name is Bontrager, which I know is an Amish name. I’d love to hear what your friend had to say about auctions!

If you can contact me I am in Strasburg on white oak rd and purchased a amish home at auction and know many of the Lancaster families and their businesses. I am just down the road from the old Nickle Mine School and live in what the area Amish refer to as the Amish mansion built by a Amish contractor who pulled out all the stops, you may find it interesting.

Question for you, you mentioned going to the church service, do you speak the high German that they use within their community. It's a hard language to learn from what I understand, so if you've mastered that, I have a new appreciation for you. Thank for the fun information, and the little glimpse into Lancaster County, it's so beautiful there, especially at this time of the year. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi Erik! Hope you had a nice time at your conference at Etown College. And now you're here visiting the Amish. What a great week to be here with awesome weather! I drove my elder Amish lady, very good friend, around today. We were down in Intercourse. Speaking of electric scooters, she has one for short distances. Bird-in-Hand there is a business that runs tiny motorcycle-cart style vehicles out for backroad tours. I believe its across from the B-I-H restaurant. There is a guide and then a string of these tiny carts following. First time we saw them Katie was with me, and we thought....'what the It's a sight to see for sure.
I like your buggy studio!
Have a great time.
Thanks for another great video.

I’m moving to this area next week and I am so excited. I hope to meet some of our Amish neighbors here in Schaefferstown soon.

Your videos are so informative and so fun. How did you start to go about making friends with so many Amish? Your personality is so appealing but so curious how you became such dear friends with Amish?
