Recorded at the Wuppertal Hauptbanhof monorail station on Monday April 7th 2014. This recording concentrates on the heavy overhead running gear and traction motors for the 'flying tram' train sets. Note the the system uses double-flanged wheels. You can see the calliper disc brakes release before the train set departs (they accelerate very quickly). The conductor rail is undertneath the track and can be seen as the shiny rail above the driver's cab, underneath the suspension rail in my previous views.
I stayed at the comfortable Astor Hotel immediately outside the monorail station. Well-used to welcoming railway enthusiasts they provide a very good breakfast and free local transport passes (which include the monorail) for their guests. I've stayed their a number of times and recommend it to anyone intending to explore the monorail. Rob
