A beautiful film. I’m decades behind with Ozu films in my heart, but I’m glad that I’ve finally started watching his films. FLOATING WEEDS was a masterpiece, like many of Ozu’s films. In one’s cinematic life, at least one Ozu film should be experienced.

A truly magnificent and beautifully filmed movie.
I hadn't seen this one by Ozu before, and was blown away by just about every detail: the cinematography, the acting, the storytelling... all so perfect. Bawled my eyes out at the end of the movie too.

I just saw this for the first time recently, and it instantly became one of my favorite movies of all time. The setting is so beautiful and tranquil, and Machiko Kyo displays her full powers as an actress. Despite her character's jealous and cruel nature, she still manages to glow with an almost otherwordly beauty and sensuality. The aging playboy never stood a chance against her/his own nature.
