Using the UK specifically as an example of where this EU law applies is kind of wild.

The EU: heads phones cause hearing loss.
Me: WHAT?

as someone who has severe tinnitus, it's safe to say I got them from listening to music on full volume with earphones when I was a kid. not a lot of people told me that it would have consequences... and I suffer it every night when I try to sleep, when I take a walk and try to enjoy the silence...

You know what, after turning 25 I'm realizing how quickly this lifestyle is gonna catch up with me. I'm glad that is one less thing I have to worry about changing.

I had headphones for many years that had insane amount of bass and was generally louder than any other headset when plugged into the same device.
Went all throughout highschool wearing those constantly and I’m pretty sure it did contribute to my hearing loss I have today💀

I'm sorry but the UK is no longer governed by the EU any more. These rules likely still exist, but they're not dictated by the EU anymore, given Brexit

Just to be clear, this is very hard to regulate since every headphone or speaker has a different resistance and sensitivity. Also listening to music loud for a short amount of time is nice to do sometimes.

Ngl, I've kept my earbuds and headphones low my whole life and I still got damn good hearing at 25 to the point I can listen in on people whispering lmao

Just a reminder that the “city that never sleeps” what with all the constant noise, would really like to sleep.

That's pretty annoying for us who already have hearing loss and need it at 11+

The thing with this is that it doesn't actually get followed. Your device is limited but if your headphones have their own volume you can crank it further.

Stay safe, look after your ears guys. Tinnitus isn't fun.

What? A set of countries decides to implement preventative measures to stop an issue from hurting people's lives? In the land of the free it would have been solved by a good ol' lawsuit after the damage has already been done

you know UK left EU over 5 years ago aight?

This is truly a great thing and the only people that would truly have an issue with it are the reason people dont and cant govern themselves, self destructive out of spite of another.

As someone who listened to loud music in earbuds in the 2000's and 2010's I can say for SURE the decibel were higher than they probably should've been

W for EU, making headphones safer, standardizing charging ports to USB C and removable batteries on phones

I wear earmuffs anytime I use the leaf blower or vacuum now. I wear ear plugs when I go to concerts. No more high pitched ringing in the middle of the night. Take care of your body and your body will take care of you ✌️
