Imagine being called out on creating a toxic environment by Jos Verstappen

I'm looking forward to 10 years of Stroll dominance. Let's go! 🍁

Here is my thoughts. Newey goes to Aston Martin end of 2025, then max goes to Aston 2026 and Stroll goes to WEC for a year or two. Alonso then wins his 3rd world championship at the age of 45 and breaks the record for longest gap between championships. Alonso then retires end of 2026 as champion.... A man can dream cant he.

Newey gets waaay more access & influence on/within Aston Martin than Ferrari would ever allow as a brand & as an organization + it's convenient since he can stay at Home(UK).
What isn't as obvious is Ferrari also has plausible doubt against a deal with Newey from a technical perspective & it's to do with the 2026 concept being centered around the Engine.

I wish I looked as cool as Tommo does with that backwards cap

Here's a sprint quali idea: each driver is on the circuit alone. One warm up, one hot lap. Order determined with drivers literally pulling numbers out of a hat. As soon as the flier passes the pit exit the next driver goes, so the flier only has to overtake the driver on their cool-down lap. That would give us about 30-45 minutes of quali with 20 drivers. Track evo wouldn't be that big since there would only ever be 20 push laps, weather could be problematic but it always is.

I called Newey to Aston as soon as he said he's leaving RB, and I got relentlessly mocked by all the Tifosi and all the rtrds who don't know Newey has been telling Ferrari to ffk off for 20 years

If they massively increased the points for quali, I could see reverse grids working. It would also allow quali to have a bit more of an identity, rather than just the 'grid-maker'. Allow drivers that can perform constantly over a lap to gain some points (i.e Albon, Yuki etc.)

Spot on when it comes to Newey\McLaren. What MCL should do is lay down a crazy offer to the best few strategists in F1.

For me, the biggest question is "How committed is Lawrence and the whole AM to the F1 project"? Newey has been part of winning teams/ winning mentality for almost his entire career. He started out March/Leyton House but moved to Williams for the 91 season. Then moved to McLaren for 97. Both Williams and McLaren had been proven championship-winning teams. Then his move to RB was another move to as of that time not a championship-winning team, but they had the aspiration to be one. Don't get me wrong, Newey is a reason why Williams won 92, 93, and 96. Why McLaren won in 98 and 99. And why RB won [insert the long list of winning seasons]. At Williams and at McLaren the winning was already there, at RB the will to win was there. But I don't know if the will to win is at AM. Just take another engineer Paddy Lowe. He was there when Williams won in the early '90s, and he was there when McLaren won in the late '90s (plus 2007). Then he was there when Merc started his domination (yet another example of surrounding the right people with more right people). But when he moved back to Williams, the winning mentality that once was there no longer was present. Newey alone can't make the AM title-winning team. If Newey joins AM it very well might end up like Lowe joining Williams in 2017. Yes, Lawrence is putting a lot of money in his team, but so did Toyota between 2002 (minus what ever number of years they but in to built up to enter F1 in 2002) and 2009.

It's weird that we came to a point where the best info source is Robert Doornbos

Hoping and praying Alonso stays for long enough for Newey's input to bear fruit and let him fight for WCs again🙏

I think they should add a pit stop to the sprints. Make everyone pit on the exact same lap. Shake things up fr

Doonbos moved on the Champcars ( Indycars) after f1 and was rookie of the year and finished 3th in his first year

FWIW, Lawrence sold Mont-Tremblant about 18 months ago to Gad Bitton, as he did with his Ferrari Montreal dealership and a number of cars including his FXX and both his road-going McLaren F1 as well as his Longtail GTR. Partially due to his divorce from Claire, but the track was quite time consuming with the constant legal battles around it.

Unpopular opinion, I really like sprints and I think that they are a good addition to the calendar. Oneshot qualy for sprints is a cool idea though

Regarding the Sprint format, I would have FP1&2 on Friday, Quali and Sprint on Sat, and Race on Sunday, with Sprint Quali being either just fastest laps from FP2, or just take the Q1 order. Option 1 would encourage viewership for FP2, and option 2 would encourage non top drivers to put a banger Q1 lap in.

aston is in its relative infancy (new management, facilities etc) and was always a prime candidate for newey to leave his mark with a new challenge. as a fan tbh i like sprints, its fun to see racing that is all out, but its only more fun if the competition is close.

I like the sprint Quali as one shot, the problem tho is that you have to fill the 30 min to 1 hour window. If the one shot is 20 minutes who is going to watch and who is going to show up? Maybe combine quali and the race? Quali first, get the order, then start the sprint race

sprint format:
friday; *pf1 *pf2
Saturday; *qualifying (race)
*sprint quali is either reverse grid or lottery. *sprint race only points for constructors. this incentives the back of grid teams, and like Redbull this year, a chance to recoup points lost. maybe throw a pit stop on the mix.
sunday; *normal race.
