Davide Giovannini – The Minas Project [Brazilian Jazz] LIVESTREAM

Показать описание
“High energy drum-led Brazilian jazz played here by a superb band featuring sax/flute virtuoso Paul Booth and guitarist Guillermo Hill” – Time Out
A tribute to the music of Minas Gerais, Brazil: the land of great artists like Toninho Horta, Milton Nascimento, Beto Guedes and Lo Borges.
With performance and recording credits from the likes of Steve Winwood, Paul McCartney, Bjork, Marcos Valle, Roy Ayers & Snowboy – drummer and vocalist Davide Giovannini’s CV reads like a who’s who in music. The Minas Project reflects his deep love of the music of Latin America, and this region in particular.
“Although contemporary throughout, there’s a timeless feel to the beautiful and mature songs. Davide is as accomplished a singer as he is on drums. Not to be missed!” – Blues & Soul Magazine
“While on tour with Marcos Valle, I met violinist Rudi Berger, who has been playing with Toninho Horta for more than 20 years. He gave me his latest CD, which had some of Toninho’s compositions on it and I fell in love with it straight away. A few years later I was in Rudi’s band, and later still, I took a trip to Brazil where I finally met Toninho and went on to record with him on several occasions. I returned from Brazil full of inspiration and went on to write more songs. Before I knew it I had enough material for an album. In Belo Horizonte I also met the great lyricist Fernando Brant, who put words to many classic Brazilian songs by Milton Nascimento, Toninho Horta, Lo Borges and more. I feel honoured that he wrote the lyrics for two of my songs . This record would never have seen the light without the inspiration that the music of Diana Popoff, Toninho Horta and Yuri Popoff gave me: I thank you for it. I hope you enjoy it.” – Davide
Line up:
Davide Giovannini – drums & lead vocal
Tom O’Grady – piano & keyboards (Resolution 88, Myles Sanko)
Paul Booth – saxes, flute, bass clarinet, keyboards (Trypl, Van Morrison)
Guillermo Hill – electric & acoustic guitars (Airto Moreira, Mica Paris)
