UpFront - Web extra: Daniel Ellsberg on incapacitation in the US

Показать описание
Daniel Ellsberg leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971, helping to bring about the end of the Vietnam War. Four decades later, he continues to speak about the need to protect whistleblowers from prosecution.
"I have no doubt that Edward Snowden will never regret the chance that he took to do this anymore than myself," Daniel Ellsberg says.
In this web extra, Ellsberg addresses the threat journalists face when reporting leaked government documents. "I think the danger is growing, that journalists... will actually be prosecuted," Ellsberg tells Mehdi Hasan.
He also comments on the threats he faced after leaking confidential government information.
He says: "During my case a dozen CIA assets were brought up from Miami to Washington where I was in a rally with orders to 'incapacitate Daniel Ellsberg totally'".
