Humanities lecture on the origins, spread and legacy of French gothic architecture in the high middle ages. Most pictures are from my own travel and research. Topics include: Abbot Suger of St. Denis, Villard de Honnecourt, the Romanesque precursors to Gothic, and the cathedrals of Notre-Dame in Paris, Laon, Reims, Chartres, Coutances, Salisbury, and Utrecht. [I had to whip this out quickly to make up for a missed week of class, please consider this a rough draft]

Thanks for the lecture! Can you do one on gothic art? It would be interesting to compare the gothic art in the anglosphere to the German gothic art
