I like to use the open G string (tuned to E obv) instead of 5th fret D (B) string. Makes the transition feel smoother for me imo.

Tony generally rides the low strings with plenty of power chord vibrato to, as he put it, "make the sound bigger" since they didn't have a rhythm guitar. Playing along the 5th string is a consistent misnomer for Sabbath riffs

In ultimate guitar they transcribed it like this. I play first chord C# on 4th fret bar chord and go from there. I’m not tuning my guitar to C# and I agree I don’t hear it this way either

i like to use a hammer on and pull off instead of a slide for a quick clean sound... idk if it's the "right way" or just the way i hear it but that's the way i prefer
