also to add the car they tested here has the MPE exhaust (akra) which is an 8k option (hence it sounds more beefy)! Although the standard comp pack exhaust is way better than stock m6 exhaust.

Great review! Having picked up my M6 GC on Monday all I can say is I totally agree and wow what a car. The 1200 mile run in period is a total nightmare though not being able to utilise the power, but even below 4K rpm it is still absolutely mighty!

I was surprised by the description too, but then I remembered that the 1st mass production M car was a 5 series. A large car for that era. We all think of M3s when we think of M cars because they are the pinnacle of maneuverability in the line-up and the ones that race and inspire (although the M2 may now take the crown), but if you look at the beginnings, the true, "original" character of these cars is the M5 .

The M8's engine didn't end up in the F1 though. Paul Rosche designed a V12 out of the S50 engine, from the M3 E36. If you listen closely to it, the McLaren F1 sounds a lot like the M3 CSL.

7k extra is good value when you consider the Titanium exhaust by it's self is north of 9k
