Series X Midgen Refresh

To be honest, immediately after seeing the names and parameters of both, I knew that Xbox S is the standard version and X is the extended version, so I'm not even surprised

Honestly i think the way they are doing it is the way. Offer both systems at launch and let the consumer pick which console they would like to have the rest of the decade. The mid gens like it was done in the past felt forced. This is more consumer choice. Upgrading just to upgrade leaves consumers left with less games purchase choices because that money equals out to 8 games. This just makes more sense to me. Also it forces unnecessary development onto game creators by doing the mid gen upgrades.

Honestly, this really isn't that bad. Sure, it limits the resources for really ambitious game devs out there, but at the same time, look at how greedy companies have become for hardware resources, to the point where optimizing their games is more of a luxury than the standard. Hopefully this will force some companies to give their teams better dev times to make more polished products

It definitely feels like a refresh, it’s like the 3Ds to new 3Ds in a way, it’s upgraded and better, but it’s still the same thing in essence and has its own line of games

Im honestly surprised that Sony is. The power that game systems are packing is well above what most games run at. The industry needs more engines that can utilize the hardware well before it’s even really necessary to refresh or even talk of releasing a new console.

I remember having the PS4 and then when we gave that away, we got the PS4 slim (for thise who dont know was last gens mid release). It was great. Double the storage and it didnt become a jet engine when you played something other than PS2 games

Honestly I think that at this day and age, we don’t need a mid-gen retreat anymore because they are powerful enough to do what they do best. Game. Even the series s is a great little console too.

my S is amazing, it's fun playing games and you load faster both with internet speed and good performance hand in hand than other players lol. honestly wasn't aware of the performance drop compared to the x but that just makes me want the x more and give my S to my gf. overall doesn't need any refresh tbh

The point of the series s isn't to compete with the ps5, that's the series x's job. The series s exists for those who want to spend a bit less and aren't really bothered about frame rate and performance.
