This is a Motormouth couple car review of the updated 2014 Mazda MX-5 Miata. What’s new for 2024? The MX-5 gets a light refresh with some updates to the exterior including new headlamps, taillamps, wheel designs and a new colour called Aero Grey has been added. The interior gets some nice updates including extra padding at the centre console, updated technology with the addition of an 8.8” display screen with Mazda Connect replacing the 7” screen. When using Apple Carplay and Android Auto, it becomes a touchscreen and for the first time Mazda’s first ever integration of Alexa. Mazda has also updated the power steering and it has a new available limited slip differential, all for improved handling.
Mazda says when working to achieve its 50/50 weight distribution, Mazda made a point to take measurements with a driver behind the wheel. The MX-5 has kinematic posture control which works with the suspension and braking systems to provide better balance and feel when cornering.
In Canada, the 2024 Mazda MX-5 soft top starts at $34,900 CAD, GS-P Soft top/RF $38,900 CAD/$41,900 CAD and GT Soft top/RF $42,000 CAD/$45,000 CAD.
In the US, Sport $28,985 USD, Club Soft top/RF $32,485 USD/$40,210 USD and Grand Touring Soft top/RF $34,285 USD/$37,010 USD.
Fuel Economy, the 6-speed manual gets 9L/100 km, 26 MPG city and 7L/100 km, 34 MPG highway. 6-speed automatic 9L/100 km, 26 MPG city and 6.6L/100 km, 35 MPG highway.

I had one of these with the 1.5 last year.
Honestly think it's the best car ever made.
Just enough power to get the job done without emptying the fuel tank.
Always made me smile whether i was washing it or driving it.
Perfect size for Scottish roads too.

I owned a 2002 Miata for 10 years and reluctantly sold it when I moved into an apartment without a garage. Absolutely the most fun per dollar out there. This video makes me miss my little go-cart. Thanks!

Watching this review brought back great memories of my '92 Miata. That still is the best car I have ever driven in my life. Makes me want another one!

This is a great car, provided you know what you are getting in to. It doesn't have a ton of power, it doesn't have a ton of storage space. As long as you go in there knowing that and don't prioritize those things, you'll love it. It's light, nimble, reliable and won't break the bank buying it or driving it. If you're looking for a fun little car to put a smile on your face every day you drive it, Mazda made this just for you.

Though never having driven a Miata, I have drooled over several and simply love the car. At 72 years young(ish) I would have a Miata in a heart beat. A great review by my favorite automotive journalists. What’s not to like!!??

Not only is an MX5 a blast to drive, it's also one of the most reliable and economical vehicles one can buy. Plus, it looks great too. Perfect!

Great review of a great car! Love the Miata, but that grey colour is no match for soul red. Your audio was super, given that you were driving a convertible. 👍

I recently sold my ‘21 RF Club BBR and for the first time since 2001 I don’t have a sports car in my garage. During those 24 years I owned 6 different Miatas and 4 S2000s and my ‘21 RF Club was my favorite. I made a huge mistake selling it and I am on the search for a replacement. I sold it due to difficulty getting in and out (I’m in my 70s) but it wasn’t impossible. GREAT review as always Zach and Andrea! Your joy whenever in a Miata is palpable!

Another fantastic review. You really bring out the details while adding real enthusiasm, which is probably how you earned a long term tester. Congratulations on that, looking forward to your future videos. You guys are so fun to watch

So comforting to know that Mazda has kept the MX-5 unspoiled by a turbo, and improvements are actually improved, not changed for the sake of change. More flashy colours please Mazda... brighten up these dreary Canadian roads filled with boring, white and gray scale SUVs and cars...

I discovered your channel a couple years ago & used your fantastic videos when I was searching for my next vehicle last year. I wound up getting a new Kia Sportage Hybrid and love it! I additionally bought a new MX-5 Miata in Soul Red with the soft top! I’m not wealthy, I just decided to splurge a bit and have a bit of fun with the modest amount of money I received from my parents estate (they both passed in the last couple years). The Mazda is a top down, good weather vehicle & the Kia is my regular vehicle. Thanks for your reviews, content, advice & just being such blissful people who present great stuff. Have a delightful weekend 💞

This is the car i would buy if i were to retire right now. You don’t need a fast car to enjoy driving. Looking forward to your long term review.

Beautiful cars, I miss my 06. My wife felt scared to ride in because it’s so low, but I enjoyed it in the summer.

I like that you guys talk to the engineers and get the story behind why some decisions were made. I noticed that on the macan video too

Rented an early model years ago for an anniversary week end and loved it then. Drive the loaner this summer and then buy it. No brainer. Put it away for the winter and have a ball in spring '25. You two never disappoint!

My recollection was you guys loved the 2023. You had no problems with the ride or the dynamics. I own a 2023 GT RF and just drove the new one. I found the steering TO BE HEAVIER, not as light and the suspension was stiffer, more road feel. Overall I liked the 2023 as much or maybe better. Honestly I could not feel or see any difference in the new car that would make it better to drive, the older versions were just fine!.
