@advicewitherin 😰 whew this is something I’ve been hearing a LOT from yall lately.

Sometimes, looking for a new job can be a job in and of itself. 😵‍💫

If you need a break, take it. Seriously. The job market isn’t going anywhere. Take a couple weeks off and find a hobby — something you REALLY enjoy doing that feeds your soullll 😍

If you’re ready to make some moves, I got you. ⬇️

Here is my Crash Course For Finding A New Job When You’re Burnt Out 🤓

[Side note: I really do have a program where I have helped of people land their dream jobs! Go to AdviceWithErin.com/workshop for info!]

And if you’re struggling, I highly recommend looking into other career paths, doing a lateral shift, and/or getting creative.

Right now, generally speaking, industries like tech, business (HR/marketing/IT), & entertainment are tough to break into (but still seeking highly skilled pros). But industries like healthcare, education, and the trades are under saturated, meaning there’s more opportunity!

Go where the opportunity is! Keep an open mind. ❤️

You got this. 👏🏼 #jobsearch #resume #burnout

PS: check out my new show/podcast @nooneknows.show for hyper-helpful career & life advice from inspiring guests ✨

Don’t forget to clean up ALL of your social websites and update them with professional photos. I worked at the unemployment office for my town and we had to tell people this and you would be surprised at the results after they fixed their profiles.

The referral program thing is spot on, not only does the current employee get paid for referring you but some companies won't even look at your application without a referral from a current employee

Just to provide a different perspective:

Jobs in my field are highly competitive. So I'm constantly getting to the final stages ultimately to be told they found someone with "more experience". And jobs in my field are extremely limited so solely focusing on companies who arent hiring just because you want to work there is, respectfully, a waste of time. And ultimately, the burnout doesnt go away if you keep getting the aame results not matter what you do.

This is really good advice if you are in a good financial state in your life. I’m glad Erin points that out. I always got told to apply to as many jobs as I can but I hated that so much. It’s really draining. After I graduated my masters I decided to ditch that advice and only apply for jobs that I actually wanted to do, at company’s I wanted to work at. Everyone was shocked when they found out that I only had 2-3 applications running at a time. It took around 3 months but I have a really nice job now, that I actually look forward to every day. But I think this is a very privileged approach. I can’t imagine being so picky with no financial help, because I’ve been there and that is a truly different world.

How is anyone supposed to save up an emergency fund if they can't find a job??

How do we do that? Networking with strangers on the Internet? What kind of a message would be good to send? (yes, some of us are completely clueless in this area - it would be awesome to see some examples!)

I gotta tell you how very much I appreciate you. I'm going back to work after being a sahm for more than 20 years. I've been nervous and floundering but I feel so much more confident after listening to your advice. Seriously, thank you so much.

This is completely true! I got a really good job with all I was looking for just for being a little more strict with my selection. I do recommend to focus on the ones that you really are a good fit for you and vice versa.

It's me right now. The problem is I'm unemployed on top of that because I relocated a while back. Last 10 months = 1 interview, back in July last year. I'm absolutely crushed.

I laugh my ass off at people who think saving 3-5 months expenses wouldn't take someone like me a decade minimum to save with no emergencies occuring during that time.

gah, I needed to hear this! I'm so burned out, applying to what feels like millions of jobs and not hearing anything. Unfortunately, I'm in marketing, and I have already changed business once before. I feel like I'm too old (35 yo) to change path once again, and also the thought of going back to school is overwhelmingly stressful. It feels quite hopeless, but your videos give me at least a sliver of hope. Thank you so much for making these!

I love the “you got this” at the end of your videos. I’m 16 and in the process of trying to find my first paid job. The “you got this” gives me such a boost in confidence and makes the whole thing seem less scary, So thank you!

This is speaking to my heart❤ i feel like i tried everything. Jumped through every hoop to raise attention. Applied for companies that i actually want to work at. Switched up my resume, customized it, catered it to the job description. Even sent out friendly emails when i got rejected.
I studied microbiology and humanties and had multiple different jobs in sales, labs, and lastly customer service.
It is like HRs look at my resume and reduce me to the last thing ive done.

"Connect with people who already work there." - I wouldn't even know how to begin. How do you get into contact with them, let alone get them to give you insider tips and/or help you?
Could you make a video about how to do that, please?
