Is It Too Soon to Buy a Vita for PS4? - IGN Conversation

All the PS4 news has one IGN viewer thinking of buying a Vita but is the time right?

I went ahead and took the leap right after getting a ps4. And I must say wow..remote play is awesome as hell. Something about seeing next Gen in your hands that's amazing. Plus the device is awesome as hell. Ps should def bundle them together. That would kill Xbox.lol

Question: Didn't Sony say that not all of the Gaikai services will be at launch and that they will be rolled out throughout 2014. So, if the streaming to PS Vita needs Gaikai to work properly, and someone wanted a Vita for that functionality, would it not be better to wait until the full Gaikai services have been rolled out?

My wife just got me one and I love it, have some of my old psp and psone games on it and a few vita games. The only thing I miss is Viewtiful Joe RHR for PSP, wish it was digital.

It really depends on what kind of a gamer a person is. I like FPS games and Killzone Mercenary on the Vita looks light years ahead of the games you mentioned.

I've had my vita for almost a year! I loved it when I got it and I still do! The only problem I see with it is that there isn't many games that will make you come back to it.

The VITA has front and backpad to emulate any missing PS4 buttons.. but IMO, that's not a great replacement for a PS4 controller.
Sony should at least let us have the ability to fully remap PS4 controls on the VITA, as well as fully customize virtual buttons in size, shape, opacity and location.
Remember the PSP Go and DS3 compatibility?
Hope Sony does that with the PSV to DS4 so a 3rd party could make a clip.
Nothing beats a DS4 for PS4 games while streamed on the PSV.

There was a leaked patent image of a Vita with video out so you can play it on ur tv a few months back, so they DO have one in the works. But I don't think it will b available to the general public anytime soon

Just so you know, xbox live members only get two free games a month until the end of this year. Ps plus members get around 3-4 games per month, including yearly games. Some other perks are 10% of select purchases and I have found that the discounts on the psn store are actually cheaper and worth buying when compared to xbox's demand service

Well you also get tons of free months of gold if you renew at the right times, and there are always promotions for that. I mean, I really only have been paying around $30-$45 for gold during the last 5 years

You get lots of games on PSPlus. usually new ones every 2 weeks from what I know. So right now there is probably 5-8 games on PSPlus that you can play the full version on...and so long as you have a PSPlus membership you can keep any game you downloaded that was for PSPlus members.

I didn't say anything about "increase in consumers". Plus it doesn't matter how popular a game is because the right indie developer can open any gamer's eyes to the world of indies! Take ThatGameCompany for example.. Last year they released "Journey" an indie title that won game of the year award over games like Mario or Pokemon who weren't even nominated.. To be honest I won't be surprise if indie games start taking over in 3 to 5 years (probably longer).
