Grocery haul as a mom of 6

Ever been curious as to how much a big family’s grocery bill is?? Granted, I do not speak for all big families. I am simply sharing what we get 🤗

We get all our groceries delivered (and no the final price shown did not include the tip we give the shopper). Grocery delivery is one thing I am outsourcing to “the village.” We all have our things we do to make life a little easier when in the toddler stage and this is mine ❤️

It’s important to remember that my kids are young, the oldest is 9 and the youngest is exclusively breastfed so it’s safe to assume it’s just gonna get more expensive in time 😝

Do you get all your groceries once a week like this or do you head to the store on a daily basis?

Mom of 5 under 5 here and I would LOVE to see you do a video where you share your favorite quick/easy meals or go-to crockpot meals! In a season of surviving not thriving and I seriously need some tips! 😅

For a family that large it seems really reasonable. Divided over 7 people, because the baby probably isnt on solids thats only $93 per person. Thats averaging $4 or $5 per meal. Im sure the per meal costs are actually lower because kids are snacky so the eat like 5 times a day not 3.

Any way you slice it thats pretty good when you think about it.

Family of 6 in Indiana and we’re at about $1700 per month (4 kids 9 years and under). We eat a lot of grass fed beef and organic. This also includes paper products and vitamins.

We are trying for our fifth, we’ll have five five and under if successful. Your videos are inspiring and encouraging towards those who want a large family. We’ve been on the fence about homeschooling and would love to hear more about your family’s experience with it. Thank you for sharing your wonderful family life❤️

Can I just say, I love how real the toddler being in just a shirt and diaper. Same with my three year old right so frequently 😂

Oof, California prices! I try to keep it at 100/per person, per month, so that’s 500 for us, including me pregnant (I don’t usually add one hundred until the newborn starts eating solids).

that’s for our major budgeting to pay off debt. I buy as much off brand as I can. I buy from multiple stores and make a lot of my own bread products, which means pantry staples in bulk. We also limit our meat to save money and buy dry beans and cook them in the pressure cooker instead of soaking them overnight.

I have to remind myself it’s a season of discipline and I will celebrate later (of course we find little reasons to splurge!)

Fully support outsourcing, using the “village” and doing whatever you need to survive the postpartum months and feeding all the little mouths! You go, mama!

But for everyone wondering if this is how *all* big families eat, the answer is no. We’re a family of almost 6 and we’re doing about $650/MONTH. You can definitely do big families with less. ❤

I buy groceries weekly. I’m single and food wasting away is always a challenge. To mitigate, I cook and freeze my meals. I buy more frozen green leafy veggies than fresh. Problems for me are mushrooms, bananas, avocados, lettuce and tomatoes. They tend to spoil before I’m able to eat them all. Buy less? Tried that. And then I run out! 😂

I prefer not to buy pre-packaged meals to avoid fake additives, sugar and sodium but I used to buy for the convenience.

I do all my shopping weekly in Cali for my husband, toddler, and myself, spending between $130-$175 a week. I'm surprised you don't spend more than you do with the size of your family!

Crazy how cost of living is everywhere, but I’m sure your husbands income is much more than what it would be here. We are a family of 6 in south Arkansas. We spend about $800/ month. Some months more and some less. But, we also have a huge garden, dairy goats, and chickens. Our animal feed is in our grocery costs. And we are hunters and fishers. Not for sport, but to fill our freezer. Our biggest chunk of the groceries is household goods, animal feed, spices, grain, and butter (our only cooking oil).

If we had to buy all our groceries, I’d be screwed.

My friend with 11 children has a 500/week budget, but she often has to go over.
