In his last moments, Matoro feels no fear. He know he has succeeded--the Toa Mahri are safe, able to resume their lives in Metru Nui. The Turaga and Matoran will know that they became true heroes. Matoro does not see himself as a hero. As a Matoran, a Toa Inika, and a Toa Mahri, all he ever tried to do was his duty. Now that duty has led him to his destiny.

From Kongu being a Matoran getting dangled upside down begging in a high pitched voice not to be hurt to one day being a full blown Toa dual wielding mini guns just because he has two hands to battle eldritch horrors at the bottom of the ocean is quite one hell of a glow up.

While I wish the torsos weren't so flat in some cases, it's amazing to me how much these Toa (the most diverse and strange yet!) compliment each other. Isolate any one of them and their individual flaws become more apparent. But gather them as the team they were meant to be, and all that just washes away. They bring out the best in each other and make one of the sickest Toa teams of all.

This year was peak Bionicle set design for me. All the different silhouettes. Ah memories.

The Toa Mahri are the best designed team of Toa in my opinion because it was not one of those teams (especially the Hordika) where if you’ve bought one you’ve essentially bought them all. My favorite Toa set is Vakama (Metru) but this is the greatest team

I love Kongu, he just picked up 2 Cordak Blasters and went "two hands.". Also Jaller's Hahnah crab is great, he just got a crab friend.

Something you missed is how the packaging is designed to act like a foxhole or defensive placement and can have a cordak blaster mounted onto it by using a blue pin and a hand piece.

Also there are like 6 Titan sets for this year hot damn.

It may be more recent, but this is the most nostalgic team of sets for me. When 2007 came these Toa Mahri to me were the coolest sets yet, I would spend hours seeing reviews and replaying the commercial. Although I don't think these are the best Toa sets, these are my personal favourites, alongside 06 and 01, though I think this one beats out those 2 just for the nostalgia and for the story. I could make an entire essay and why these sets are great, and why the team as a whole is great. And of course, remember Matoro.

In the mahri mini movie you can see Jaller having his Hahnah crab being stored on his back and you can do that with the set also, of course the crab is not actually connected in any way, but just held in place by Jallers breathing tubes. This configuriation gives Jaller very distinct silhuette.

'07 had the *best* line-up of sets in Bionicle. Nothing even comes close: the Toa were dope, the Barraki were absolutely devilish and looked as freaky as the theme was, you had some really dope titans (MAKUTA EVEN RETURNS!!!), and the story was brilliant.

'07 will always be my favorite Bionicle year.

EDIT: AND WHO CAN FORGET ABOUT THE TRAILER?!?!?! HOLY COW! "NUPARU!!!" "I'll take it from here 😏"

I always loved the look of Jaller's Mahri mask, probably one of my most favourite masks of all time.

I really enjoy how the Mahri brought back Toa having unique builds between each other. That diversity is what makes the original Toa so iconic and from then on they scaled back on diversity until the Toa Metru, as great as they are, were just palette swaps sans mask and weapon. That trend was finally broken with the Mahri and the Barraki next MN Monday will really exemplify that diversity.

One of the most awesome things I heard as a kid in the time before time

I already mentioned how much I loved the Toa Inika but this cemented them as favorite Toa of all time. Theses guys not only had to fight an army of dangerous sea creatures but they fought 6 warlords who once threatened the entire universe. Not to mention they were pushed to extremes doing things hero’s would never, should never do. Not to mention they were fighting against a literal ticking clock to save the universe. Only to (spoiler alert) lose in the end. Requiring one of their members who was tried harder than any other and was never able to shake his feeling of inadequacy, to make the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the universe! Words cannot describe how much I love the toa inika/mahri.

When I moved out to go to college, I packed up most of my Bionicles to sell because my parents were planning on moving and didn't want to lug all of them across the country. I ended up keeping only 3 sets and 2 of them were Toa Mahri (Hahli and Matoro). I think that is a testament to how great these sets were designed (though I agree with you in that they aren't quite Metru level)

While my heart will always belong to the Toa sets from '01 to '04, my brain tells me that these are by far and away my favorite Toa sets. While the experimental nature of their build can be rather hit-and-miss, finally getting a team of truly unique Toa sets for the first time was such a nice change of pace. I especially adore Jaller's incredibly well-balanced mix of dark red, orange and black coloring as well as Hahli's extremely eye-catching combination of dark blue and vibrant lime pieces.

I really like how different each one of the toas is, not like most of the other toa teams, each time you open one you'll get a new experience and play experience

The Toa Mahri were easily some of the best Toa imo. Their designs felt distinct from one another and I really loved the underwater theme. And a shoutout to our savior Matoro.

I was actually surprised that the Barraki review didn’t come first, as they were released in early 2007

I always loved the Tora Mahri especially Matoro! But Hahli was the bane of my existence, me and my brother both had one back in the day. Those lime joints man…
