This is true.

Why couldn't the auto companies put this at an easy to get to location right on top🙋🏻🙋🏻🙋🏻🤦🤦🤦for easy replacement... kind of like plug and play....👌👌👌

Motors stick too. I have made 100+ hondas with good solenoids and bad starter motors (which fail multiple ways themselves) start 1 last time by smacking the MOTOR, and not the solenoid.

The "don't smack the motor, smack the solenoid" myth comes from the same guy that goes "hit the tire, not the wheel!" When removing wheels. Have you ever tried to remove a stuck wheel by just hitting the tire? It doesn't work even a little bit. Have I ever bent a wheel with a hammer? No.
