I’m using dollar tree yarn to make a king size blanket for my bed. The total is somewhere around $65! much cheaper than getting other brands of yarn, and I absolutely love how the worsted acrylic yarn feels.

I have used the dollar tree yarn to make shawls and lapghans for the nursing home near me. I usually donate them around the first of December. Using this yarn allows me to make more shawls to donate and I really like to feel of it. I make these all year long and can usually donate 30 or 35 shawls each year.

I started teaching 5 of my granddaughters to crochet in October. Since we were starting small Fall projects, I found Dollar Tree yarns perfect! It didn't cost a ridiculous amounts of money, to buy each of the 5 girls their own skein of yarn. I just love how well the yarn is working for us. Thanks for doing this video, I don't feel bad about being thrifty now.😂

I agree ! The dollar tree yarn is awesome! One thing everyone should know though, is that not every dollar tree has all the yarns in all the colors, and they don’t get consistent shipments.
It will depend on when you go what they will have in stock. So make sure you have enough before starting your project. I make a habit of stopping at every dollar tree I pass by to check their yarn stock. I pick up what I need until I have enough, and THEN start my project.

I’ll have to check out the Dollar Tree yarns. I recently bought $49.00 worth of yarn from a second hand store benefiting the meals on wheels program. I knew it was the good stuff. I got home and checked on the retail prices and it was $560.00 worth of very good quality yarn. I love a bargain. Thanks Elise!

I've made several slouchy cardigans with Dollar Tree yarns and they all came out great. They've gone through the washer and dryer much better than several I've made with more expensive yarn.

I’ve used the cotton for making soap sacks, which we fill with a bar of soap, and which is a charity project our crochet group makes each year for the homeless and for our local food pantry. I’ve found the cotton yarn to be much softer than the usual more expensive cotton I purchased in the past. It makes it much easier to crochet with too.

I think your Fox doll is so adorable. And I think the fact that there's a difference in thickness between the Tweed yarn and the regular yarn doesn't really make a difference with his features. In fact I think it gives him a little bit more personality. 😘

Hey Elise, great video!
I have used the Dollar Tree yarn for a long time now and there's two things you need to know: 1) Colors for everything but the Tweed so far, change about 6x/year. You never know when the colors will change out. Also the JUST ACTIVE is really nice to work with too.
2) The cotton splits like nobody's business. It's great for school projects and crafting but crocheting...there's other options out there.
I LOVE the chenille one! I made Peep Bunnies with it and they are so cute and fun.

I like your wolf. He's adorable!

Just happened to come across this very educational video as I am a newbie crochet practitioner. Here in the Philippines, we have really cheap yarns for half a dollar, and I've never worked the slowest in my life. The fibers (I don't know the right term, sorry) get ruffled so easily that doing a double crochet takes me a whole 10 seconds just to avoid all the tangles. But thanks for this video, I learned a lot in terms of picking yarns for my projects.

I just started trying amigurumi and decided learning with cost efficient yarn was the smart way to go lol So I bought a ton of Dollar Tree yarn. I wish I had one of the bigger stores because that selection is amazing! I’ve never worked with Tweed before and experienced the same issue with mixing yarns. So ty for explaining how to figure out if two yarns can work together. That really helped me 💜

Tbh it's actually great! I refused to buy it for a long time but when my mother in law moved out of state, she gave me a ton of it. I figured I'd use it for sort of random test projects where I don't care too much about the quality of yarn. And then I absolutely fell in love! It's surprisingly great yarn

I've really enjoyed knitting with the Dollar Tree yarns. I don't know if you've noticed this yet, but the Just Yarn Worsted has increased the skein size to 153 yards! They were originally 131 yards, then dropped to 109 yards at about the same time as the prices went up.

I love that you did this video. I will check out my Dollar tree for more options. I did find the cotton and used that to make dish cloths. After 4 months the dish clothes are still going strong! I chose the blue. I do like the slight yarn size difference in your wolf. His cheeks are fuller, giving a more fluffy appearance.

i use it all the time and make blankets, hot water bottle covers, dishcloths, fingerless mittens, hats, and small stuffies for my kitty and grandchildren. Love it

Your ruler test... is absolutely genius. I feel like a dolt right now, I've been casually crocheting since I was 9 and it NEVER occurred to me to test my yarn thickness like that.

Hi Elise! Love your videos. My tip when shopping in-person for yarn is to bring a sole purpose reusable shopping bag with a piece of tissue paper in it. I lay the tissue on the bottom of the shopping carriage (which rarely gets cleaned) to avoid dirt, glitter, etc. from getting on the yarn I'm buying. After checking out you can toss the tissue & use your nice clean bag for your new yarn. Happy shopping everyone!

I have some of the Dollar Tree worsted and knit a pair of leg warmers for my daughter out of some of it. I found it to be every bit as good a quality as the other Premier acrylic yarns. On your fox, the fix on the difference between the white yarn and the tweed would have been to drop down a hook size for the white. Even in the same yarns, there is sometimes minute differences between the thickness of different colors. We adjust.

I’ve been crocheting and knitting for nearly 60 years now. I’ve never heard or seen anyone give a better understanding of individual yarns like you did!! Great job!! Love your stuff! I subscribed for sure!!
