I use a Grove ultrasonic sensor and a micro:bit running MicroPython on a Sphero RVR to keep a consistent distance from the wall.

To get this working, I needed to adapt the Grove Ultrasonic Ranger to use the micro:bit hardware in MicroPython. The code is based on the wiki here:

It's been some time - looking forward to see students use their microcontrollers (rp2040, stm32f411, esp32-s2 and atsamd51) with circuitpython to implement their PID algorithms and first steps to autonomous driving.
