Wow, I've not heard this cover. The original was done by a folk rock band called Fairport Convention in 1969. pretty cool version. Never heard anyone cover a song by this band before. I think they are still playing.

I remember hearing them on the radio when they first released Highway Tune and thinking it was some deep Led Zep cut I'd never heard, then the DJ said it was GVF. I haven't really listened to anything they've done in the last few years, but might have to check out their catalog.

This was a Fairport Convention song by Sandy Denny (1970). She was an amazing musician. RIP Sandy Denny [1978] at young age of 31.

I thought the song sounded familiar and I see below someone has said it's a cover so I guess I've heard the song at some point. I can't remember the original version enough to compare it but this was great and kept that 70's feel to the song.

Hi, have you heard of Crown Lands? A duo from Canada, they are a must hear!! They have toured with GVF and are Rush inspired. The first song I heard was Lady of the Lake.

I followed GVF for a while. Three brothers and their best friend from Frankenmuth, MI who grew up listening to Blues and 60s and 70s Rock. Their early stuff was great. Their first full album was solid. Not as impressed with their later work, though. They are a really good live band, for the record. The bassist also plays keyboards. This song is a cover, BTW. The original is by Fairport Convention.

A good cover, clearly done with much affection for the original - the guitar solo is MUCH influenced by later Richard Thompson live versions and none the worse for that. Fairport Convention's version is much folkier and probably a little more moving. Plus it's sung by RT, Sandy Denny and Ian Mathews, all great voices.

Seen many thumbnails for this band. (What a dumb name for video selections) But never bothered because I kept hearing they were cheap Led Zeppelin knock offs. I can hear a little Zepp ambiance but nowhere near that level AND they sound fine for my first intro!! Not sure why that comparison came to be?? All I know is Red is on fire 🔥 today!!
