i was unemployed for 6 months, I cried every day, and got depressed. I’m in a better place now, have a steady job and I would advise anyone going through the same thing to keep pushing and to avoid staying in your room the whole day lol

2 years without having a job. After graduating with a 4 year degree. Seriously this messes with our mind.

I graduated in May 2020 with my BS and I’m still unemployed and honestly it’s taking a toll on me. I cried twice this week. I feel like no one wants to take a chance on me even tho I did free work (internships, 3).
Not to mention that, according to a study most people find a job 3-6 mths post grad
Also you’re better than me. You seem so happy. I’m a mess.

I feel what your feeling girl. I graduated college in the Spring of 2022. Lived with my parents for the summer, was hoping to get an Agriculture job because that's what I went to school for, but my mom told me, to stay home because of how crazy the world is and inflation screw everyone's life up. I've had to learn how to live with my family and work on the family farm, but I have dreams of someday being independent, living and working elsewhere. Thank you for this video and yes, I feel your pain.

Watching this was so encouraging! I graduated with a Masters in November, am currently living at home and have had absolutely no luck in finding a job. It's so frustrating when random older people grill you on why you haven't found anything yet and you're like... have you watched the news over the last year and a half? 😅 fingers crossed you find something soon!🌟

Ohhh I needed that video! I would like to say thank you for that talk. I just graduated but since about one year I don't really wanna go in the typical direction where all my university colleagues are heading and what would be typical after the master. Thanks for letting people know that they are okay when there is nothing lined up right after graduation. Thanks for giving people hope. Thanks for telling people that they can take their time. Thanks for the honest talk and your thoughts. You are not alone! Cheers from Austria

I just wanted to chime in, even though this video is old.

SAME. Graduated with a degree in sociology and a minor in statistics. Did a couple of research projects to build my portfolio and presented at a conference in undergrad.

All of my networking didn’t do much, as I have been rejected/ghosted from over 300 jobs. I can’t count how many cover letters, resumes, interviews, and assessments I’ve done. So much time, so much work, with nothing to show for it.

I work at Starbucks making minimum wage, and another co worker graduated with a business management degree 2 years ago. So at least I’m not alone :/

I’m probably just going to join a union and learn a trade.

This popped up in my recommendeds, glad that im not alone, I graduated in 2019, and haven't found full time good paying work yet, it's hard tbh, and it also feels bad when you are living at home and everyones doing big things, they say that comparison is the thief of joy, we aren't alone. Im in grad school after 1 year of unemployment, and it's been okay. Decided to sub to you, You will get there <3 <3

You know what? Same. I graduated Dec 2020 and I have a casual job but it’s not related with what I studied which is accounting. Thus making me feel like unemployed. I keep applying and getting rejected. I feel like a failure tbh. But thanks, I know I’m not alone for now.

Getting rejection so much, is the worse part.

I finally got a job after a year and then I wasn’t being paid enough to make 3x rent anywhere and had to resign and move home. I’m so over it.

I really hate the feeling of pressure to get a job right now like it makes me question my existence. This pandemic also worsen the situation 😭

This is such a confident post about the complexities of job searching after college. I'm an executive coach focusing on alignment with passion and career goals and actionable steps to get that dream job. This is such a common issue right now with everyone re-evaluating their career, work/life balance, and happiness! Best of luck!

Graduated in May this year with a degree in computational physics and minors in math and cs. Even took Russian for a good while and was a top student. Big name university, decent gpa. The payoff? Most promising job I can probably find rn with a physics degree is a low-skill retail job. Assuming they don't see me as overqualified.

Now I'm trying to pursue web dev certifications and build a portfolio. College is way too behind on keeping up with industry rather than just academia, even in STEM. Degrees seem to be more useless every passing year despite increasing pressure to pursue masters and PhD programs even nowadays. Meanwhile you really don't even need a degree to get into software engineering bc everything is self-taught bc the technology is always changing. The only reason I don't regret college is for being a soul search, and helping me realize my interest in coding.

Tks for the video. I'm from Brazil and I graduated with a bachelors degree in public relations. its been 6 months since I graduated and I'm still unemployed. All my colleagues from Uni are employed and thriving. It's hard not to think like I'm a failure because I tried so hard to get in the course just to end up unemployed after graduation. As it's not so expensive to go to Uni around here, I'm thinking about getting back to uni to get a business degree. It's not what I want, but I hate being unemployed. Also, I hate the judgment of people around me, I feel like they think I'm lazy which it's not true because I'm applying for jobs that are 34 KM away from my house and also accepting to work on Saturday, but I still don't hear back from those companies. I hope you are doing great.

I can tell one thing I'm super grateful to my father for not kicking me out of his home and being so supportive. I can't believe how would I survive if I had to pay my rent during this unemployed season. Thanks papa. You're a true friend.

I've been finding a job for 3 weeks now too. Yes, it took them weeks to contact me, but after getting all my basic info, I've never heard them back again. I'm living with my fam, rent free, but I've bills to pay.I'm soon to graduate in Aug.
