Nikon D800 review

The Nikon D800 joins the professional range of SLRs and features a massive 36.3 million pixel effective sensor, not to far removed from much larger medium format bodies.

Although the big news is the Nikon D800 36.3 mp sensor, with this model Nikon has really paid attention to the emerging DSLR video market.

Looks like a lot of Canon Fans checking out the competition. I bought the 5D exclusively for the video capabilities. I love it Great rig, but I am a Nikon man. My 800 just arrived this week, It's a fashion shooters dream DSLR. My 5D will be on ebay real soon.

to get good HDR u best do a manual exposure with 5-8 shots or so.
the in camera option is nice but not something i would use for a real HDR shot

u cant really go wrong with any of these new cameras but if i had the money the 5D Mark III is the best overall with its superior function and focusing...d800 just has crazy high res which is great but such large files u don't need...

D800 /800e a much better camera all in all, canon mk3 does not come even close to it.

The 5D Mark III is a lot better camera for 99% of the users. The Canon 5D Mk3 has tremendous advantages over the Nikon, when it comes to faster focusing, color depth and low-light performance (ISO vs ISO). Also, when using the burst shooting feature, the Canon buffer does not fill nearly as fast, making it much more practical.

i used the HDR mode on the d800 a couple times and have had no problems of blur or ghosting when shooting from my hands, maybe it align's automatically ?

tired of waiting for nikon australia to start getting stock for australian public they keep saying next month. i have waited for nearly 6 months . seriously thinking of selling my $40, 000.00 worth of nikon equipment and changing to hassellblad digital. every time nikon brings out a new product australia is the last country to get any supplies from japan. nikon australia needs to get its act together

Can you record video without using the live view mode?
I want to record videos but I don't want to use the live view, instead I want to see through the viewfinder. Let me know if this is possible.. thanks
