Thank you! My 2008 Prius has had this problem off & on but this time it has stayed off for several days. Watched several videos with "fixes" but nothing else worked. Did just what you showed and they're back on! (My car has 410, 000 miles on it!)

Thank you! I tried my classic fix (turn off car, wait 20 sec, turn on car) and a bunch of other fixes from YouTubers. But this was the one that worked. Great video with well presented info. Thanks again!

Just had this problem, I had to replace the combination meter and that fixed it. Good luck :)

Thank you so much for this other option for my 2008 Prius I have no intention of removing my whole entire – to replace a small part costing over $800... The other hacks do not always work thank you so much for your video it's very helpful for me...

Ashley, you are awesome! Thank you for this video. It works perfectly. Your instructions are very clear and to the point. The fix makes sense since what it does is like a little 'reset'. Kinda thing you do w/ your computer. Unplug, let sit for some seconds and after you connect and turn on everything is normal

These are all temporary fix but all the issues will keep coming back eventually . All these issues are due to a bad speedometer cluster (the dash light issue) That all the second generation 2005-2009 Prius, have due to bad capacitor on the dash speedometer. Luckily there’s an easy fix to it. There is plenty of listings on eBay of people selling the part that is causing all these issues, with the correct capacitor. Some even offer to program the miles to your current miles on your car too! It’s such an easy and inexpensive fix, with plenty of tutorials on YouTube, it’s really not that hard to replace either! You just need a couple tools and some patients.

You don't have to do all this. First open the drivers door, 2 push the power button with out pushing the brake pedal, 3 press and hold the climate button, 4 mash the brake pedal and pull back on the high beams headlights. If the dash doesn't come on press the emergency flashers button. When the door open and the beeper for the door comes on you can start the car. I've been doing this on both my Prius for years now.

That's only a temporary fix. To fix it permanently there is a capacitor on the back of the combination meter that has to be replaced. This can cause a number of different problems and can ultimately leave you stranded if not properly addressed.

Do the lights ever turn off while driving? Or just when starting car

To fix that problem you will need to remove the cluster and replace a capacitor.

I had the same problem and got a reconditioned cluster and it also solved the problem, I don't know if it's the capacitor or poor soldering.

Problem typically emanates from a bad 100uf capacitor in the dash and needs replaced....up the value to 200uf at 16v (Pita)! Can be done with some patience.

On my 2006 Prius, my left turn signal, high beam light, and parking/emergency brake lights don't display. However, they are all functional. What do you think is the issue?
