Friedrich Kuhlau (11 September 1786 – 12 March 1832) was a Danish composer and pianist during the romantic period. Kuhlau was a naturalized Dane and was a central figure in the Danish golden age. He wrote a great amount of music for the time's popular instrument, the flute. His piano music was mostly intended as educational, but despite that they are really well crafted. During a fire in his house a large portion of his compositions perished.

Performed by David Ernst Molnar
