'It stresses our family': PG&E customers face hefty bill increase

Pacific Gas & Electric Co. customers statewide are raising concerns over gas bills that appear significantly higher than prior months. KCRA 3 received hundreds of messages from people upset about charges that have doubled, and in some cases, tripled. "I was like, 'Oh my God, that’s a lot of money,'" said Andrea Fernandez, a customer in Elk Grove. "Usually PG&E is super low compared to your SMUD bill. It makes no sense to me, to be honest."

PG&E also had record profits during all the fires they have had. The state should allow consumers to shop for competing utilities. PG&E is the definition of a monopoly.

PG&E lobbyists are really close with Gavin Newsom. A lobbyist for PG&E was at the table during the infamous "French Laundry" dinner party earlier in the pandemic.

I don't even use the heater, I was paying 20 and my bill from December was 115. Gtfoh !! Where can I get the service besides PGE ? Or is it a monopoly ?

My bills are over $1000. What is also concerning is they are billing me the EXACT same amount each month, down to dollars and cents: I don’t have solar, so they clearly aren’t monitoring exactly what I use, since we tried to use power off ‘peak’ hours. This is a freaking scam, and it’s going to catch up to them when people finally rise up.

I had the same problem so I bought electric heaters and it’s been hundreds of dollars cheaper. Buy a couple of electric heaters and use those to heat the rooms you’re in and don’t turn on the whole house heater except when it is very cold and to take the chill out of the air.

I paid $548 for a 2 story 4 bedrooms house in Stockton, CA and my December bill was $488. I haven’t lighted my house for Christmas and keeping my heat at 68 degrees. This issue needs to be taken care of ASAP.

Yeah I'm a poor man so we stopped using PG me years ago and we run a generator when we need power and I'm saving about two-thirds of the cost of my pills it's very cheap actually next to PGA me hey have you paid for an advertisement so they can tell you how great they are for you lately when they're on Monopoly

I find it impossible that the lady didn’t use any heat with children in the home in a really cold winter season in Elk Grove and ended up with a $360 gas bill. It’s laughable the lies you hear people spout out sometimes and the news just eats it all up. I use my gas stove everyday, my water heater everyday and my heater everyday and my gas bills have barely touched $100 max so far this winter season. I live in a 2500 sq foot 4 bedroom 1 story home. There is no reason your bill should be that high other than the fact that you’re overusing and blasting your heater all day everyday at high temps. Get it together people. Take responsibility.

My bill went from $150 in November to $265 in December! I've never seen it that high! So I lowered my thermostat to 66 degrees and I wear socks and a sweater when I'm at home which is most of the time since I'm retired. And I bought my senior cats warmer beds. Just got the January bill and it went down to $214. Still too high. I can't wait until it warms up and I can turn the heat off. PG&E says they are selling natural gas at their cost??? I say Bullpucky, PG&E.!
