If you're new to my channel and videos, hi! I'm Evan Edinger, and I make travel vlogs of all the exciting places I visit. I started travel vlogging about 6 years ago because I wanted to see more of the world and be able to watch back some of my adventures. I also make weekly comedy videos every Sunday on my main channel usually revolving around funny differences between British vs American things! Anyway, thanks for stopping by!

Exciting to see that the prints are coming along well! Just a thought - you should upload more on this channel, like the photography stuff or London vlogs. I know it probably doesn’t feel like travel to you, but London/ UK are major tourist destinations!

Like Evan, I also have a love of learning. Evan's language-learning journey has inspired me to learn Italian, and I am hoping to use that knowledge on a trip to Italy when travelling is allowed again!

A4 (8 1/4"×11 3/4") is standard paper for Canadians. 8 1/2"×11" is American Standard paper (years of scanning copies of documents from all over the world). Most American PICTURE FRAMES, however are 8"×10", 5"×7", 4"×6", 3 1/2"×5", or 11"×14" if you want really big ones. I used to develop picture in a 1hr Photo and sending out for enlargements etc., and have taken my fair share of wedding photos.

I really can't wait to buy a print or two. I love the idea that you are taking such a big part in getting them ready. The certificates are a great idea. I'm really sorry you can't travel right now but I'm so glad you have your photography to keep you busy and to work on your skills. All the photos I've seen on Instagram are so beautiful. Hope you and your flatmates are doing well!

I’ll have you know sir I panic when a video posts on any day but Sunday and I don’t know how many days of the week I just slept through. But I’m glad you have some new stuff to help you better with your artsy side.

I love learning about anything new - music, instruments, knitting, languages, cooking, baking, all the photo and video editing you do and anything else anyone has to offer - I think I'm called a Philomath. So continue on good sir!

Hey there! Happy to watch this update ^^ And seeing the progress on the prints. My dad used to film and do wedding/party photography when I was younger--the processes you're describing take me back to the long nights he spent putting stuff together.

Really hoping to get a print or two of yours framed to decorate my new home I'm moving into in the Summer. Hoping too to see travel stuff too, as stuff open up next week ! Take care

The authenticity style you’re aiming for reminds me of that recent vlogbrothers post Hank did about Johns book signatures

I thought everyone who uses computers would print stuff, but nowadays that might be a bit outdated assumption.

Anyway, me and my brother got a PC for Christmas 1990, and soon started to want a printer – a dot matrix printer like we had seen at school. After talking about printer for some time, eventually mom, who regularly drove to the town for work, got a printer brochure from a bookstore that also sold computer stuff. We were really beginners with computers, so didn’t understand the differences between different models. Essentially we ended up choosing the one that had largest numbers on the brochure – it surely would be a good one! We marked the selection on the brochure, and based on that mom placed the order. Then, a week or two later she had the printer in a box in the backseat of the car. Parents weren’t thrilled because of how much the printer cost, and it also needed a lot of desk space – which we totally ran out of, so it would be placed on the floor under the desk. Just try not to kick it! The printer was large because it could take A3 sideways! (So that’s what the large numbers in the brochure meant… And, for some reason the size was said to be A3 sideways, not A2 in portrait mode.) Another disappointment was that it turned out to be the only model in the brochure that would be black-and-white only – apparently because it was meant for some serious professional use, not for printing funny pictures. The last issue was the quality when printing graphics. A dot matrix printer has a printhead that moves left and write while the paper goes through the printer line by line. The precision of the printhead’s movement would be relative, so in a wider printer the accuracy of the movement would be worse. As result, straight vertical lines would look wiggly like cooked spaghetti. But returning stuff that was working correctly, just because the buyer had regrets, wasn’t a thing, so we just had to take it as a lesson and learn from mistakes.

The printer was mostly used for printing text, sometimes also graphics, but usually not both same time, because some of the DOS programs of the time were usable for text and some for graphics, but having both in one document would have been tricky. The stuff that was printed was sometimes school-related, but mostly just trying out different things with it. But one time when the printer became handy was when at some point me or my brother had accidentally hit a door in the house with something while playing, and the door got an ugly dent. Luckily the door was pretty much as white as paper sheets, and we had also got A4-sized sticker sheets with the idea of at some point to print custom stickers. I had practiced the use of the mouse by drawing a grumpy Donald Duck face based on a book cover, and so I printed it on a sticker sheet. I cut the picture off the sheet, and it was on the door for some 10 years, until several of the doors were replaced.

Later at some point we had an inkjet printer for a while, but it wasn’t really good for us because the need for printing wasn’t constant, and often the ink would dry in the printhead. For some 20 years I’ve only had laser printers. My current color laser printer at some point was nearly a year unused, but again when needed it would start and print just like before. The problem with it is that the colors don’t match with what’s on the computer screen, but it can be handled. Not by color profiles or other fancy techniques, but by compensating the changes in GIMP by eyeballing. Since the printer makes all darker tones look pretty much black, and decreases the color saturation, I’ll increase the gamma and saturation levels to the point where the picture starts to look ridiculously flashy on the screen. When that’s printed out, the result will look very close to the unedited picture on the screen.

A4 is standard in Australia. The problem with outsourcing the printing is that you cannot be certain that the quality will be consistent. I have far more faith in something you create and post out personally.
I really enjoy your travel videos and I am looking forward to them resuming. Hopefully soon!
Thank you for the video.

Such a brilliant idea...years ago I used to sell my images to Shutterstock but it was so 'commercial' that although it certainly has it's place for media/websites etc to obtain pictures fairly cheaply, I felt like my work sort of 'got lost' and it didn't appeal to the 'artist' in me so I gave up...printing my own was not financially viable at the time so I went down different avenues. You have the great advantage of a ready audience/client base and I think you are doing exactly the right thing in taking a more exclusive/photographic art approach....All the very best with your venture and I hope to one day have a piece (or three) hanging on one of my walls... :) PS: Be sure to research acid free paper and packaging materials and pencil in your name the date and limited number, (i.e. 1/30) along bottom edge of each print for a more professional finish and added value to customer.
