As a metalhead, I'm glad you're doing this. If it's not your thing, that's totally fine. But at least you're giving everyone a fair share

Metalcore changes immensely depending of the decade you're listening from

I've listened to metal all my life, and I sometimes forget it's unapproachable to a lot of people.

I really think melodic metalcore is the way to go for new metal listeners. After all, it’s what got me into the genre in the first place. It’s overall less abrasive and more palatable. I love misery signals and foreground eclipse but there’s so much good stuff

Huge problem with metalcore, every band sounds extremely different, Converge sounds different from Of Mice and Men, Jesus Piece sounds different from Sleep Token, and Gaza sounds different from Kublai Khan, but they're all technically metalcore, so no one can truly deem metalcore as one specific sound.

I think a better Metalcore starting point would be the more melodic death metal influenced Metalcore from the 2000s like Killswitch Engage, Bullet for My Valentine, Trivium, As I Lay Dying, early Avenged Sevenfold, etc.

You missed the alt metal to metalcore pipeline.

Just start with Deftones: White Pony and see where it leads ya.

My favorite metalcore band is definitely Opal in Sky. They're like positivity metal, kind of sounding like the first song shown here.

Metalcore is such a vast genre. I like the crustier dirtier stuff, less into the clean stuff

if you really want to get into metal, the two genres i recommend are old heavy metal (iron maiden et al.) and nu metal (papa roach et al.)

those are the two most approachable for non-metal fans and great starting points

It's my favorite genre. BFMV, Killswitch, some Trivium, Architechs, All that remains. So many more too, I recommend trying to listen to them occasionally if you ever want to get into a little bit more heavier stuff. It's not normally to heavy either, clean choruses and really sick sounding guitar parts. Still includes heavy drums and vocals too (vocals are not the heaviest but enough to be heavy)

Currently been super into metal core, was definitely hoping to see Like Moths to Flame and you didn't disappoint, they have so many bangers. Over the Garden Wall just came out a few months ago too!

That last song definitely sounded cool. I don't listen to much metal, though System Of A Down is one of my favorite bands.

So happy like moths to flames is on here, super underrated in the metal scene and my second favorite metal band behind Motionless in white!

I'd suggest checking out Avenged Sevenfold and Killswitch Engage as they are the ogs of Metalcore
