I would not recommend going for promotions as fast as possible. Maybe try to become a Corporal as fast as possible just so you don't get treated like a junior Marine but once you become an NCO you do not want to promote as fast as possible. Unless you want to stare at a computer screen as a Staff NCO

Be SQUARED away at all times. You might get lucky and get promoted on the spot by the Commandant while standing Guard at the Main Gate when he shows up for a visit.
Not me, was my buddies turn to step out and inspect the approaching vehicle. Sgt Maj promoted us both.

Don’t be infantry, literally every job but Infantry WILL promote you. It’s a joke.

The trick is to be the best service member for yourself, your family, and your respective service. Take advantage of whatever opportunities that might play into your long-term plan, enjoy the sites, and be honest with yourself when you know it's time to fold'em and return to civilian there's Life After Stripes (and bars).

the best advice for any branch. pick an understaffed mos. most people dont know how staffing works until there already in. but the simple reality is your either going to have a job that promotes fast or not.
