Operational Numerical Modelling by +ATLANTIC - from deep ocean to coastal areas

The Portuguese Operational Modelling setup is managed by +Atlantic with support from the University of Azores and MARETEC of the University of Lisbon. These operational modelling systems start with the LUSITANIA domain and cover the Portuguese Exclusive Economic Zone.

The Azores are covered by OPERA domain. Madeira archipelago by the MADEIRA domain and mainland Portugal by the PCOMS domain. These systems have higher resolution nested domains, such as the LISOCEAN domain for the Tagus and Sado estuaries and their areas of influence.

These systems run on the MOHID modelling system, which is an open-source family of numerical models which include Water, Land and Lagrangian models.
