Is a security clearance required for a federal government job? Maybe. It will depend on what type of job you are trying to attain. Federal agencies that have many jobs with clearance requirements include: DoD, DHS, DOE, CIA, FBI and NSA. However, almost every single federal employee will have to undergo a background check such as a public trust background check. In this video, I discuss the security clearance and background check process in detail. I will also share some of my experience when I went through an interview for a clearance. All the clearances are renewed after 5 years now, They just changed it last year. I just started the renewal process for my contractor job, since mine expired last year.

It’s also worth knowing that there may not technically be requirement however they may scream you against certain criteria when you apply and you could be denied the job because you didn’t need to say background check this can likely heavily influence the clearance as well because they already have it on file if you were to be granted one
