One thing to point out is that earlier versions of lightcones are very versatile.

*Unlike genshin where weapons have to be pulled and accomodates for each character, certain light cones can be used interchangeably by all characters roles regardless of elements*

While the downside holds true to needing more characters to accommodate for elemental advantages, this mainly applies to Dps characters. You can still use healers like Natasha in fire teams without affecting any dynamic yet.

Biggest difference I see between this and Genshin is how the standard banner units work. From what I could see, you could buy one copy of your favorite standard unit from the shop every month using what I believe is Honkai's equivalent to Genshin's starglitter. That's pretty nice. Also being able to have a one off choose a standard five star after 300 standard wishes is really nice too. Us Genshin players get none of those.

Other than that they look identical to me as far as how the gacha systems work.

I must say, I said I'm gonna play HSR because of story, I didn't have a lot of excitement towards the gameplay. Because I've played a lot of turn based gacha game before (among them the one I played for quite a while was Onmyoji) and I ended up quitting all of them. But HSR was surprisingly fun. But damn, I hate the way gacha works in HSR.

It's really hard to obtain enough currency to pull, and yet the gacha system works like Genshin. In Genshin, there's a lot of chests to gather, and though some gives small amount of primos, they stack up pretty soon. HSR isn't like that. You will have a hard time to get enough just for 10 pulls. And this is coming from someone who was pretty lucky. Like, I got Gepard (30 pulls in the Starter), Yanqing (my guarantee from Starter), and Clara (30 pity in the Seele banner). Right now, I'm 50 pity in the Seele banner and 60 pity in the standard. Dunno if this count as lucky but I also got my Natasha to Eidolon 6, although I would've preferred Pela since she have Defense reduction and reading Natasha's eidolons, you don't really need her to be E6.

But that's considering the fact that we received a lot of free pulls and I've been playing nonstop since release.

Really, I think Hoyoverse should either add more source for jades or reduce the cost of a single pull.

Lucky man, I experienced hard pity in every single hoyo game I’ve ever played from hi3 to genshin to star rail on every single banner I have ever rolled on ❤. So yeah incase anyone feels betrayed by rng your not alone. I will say it’s funny bc this is what makes me just buy the monthly an that’s it lol. Ironically if I pulled units earlier like I do in other games I play I usually spend more bc I think I’ll actually get it. Anyways ty for the breakdown I wanted to contemplate spending but decided not worth it knowing my luck lol.

I rerolled in Genshin during launch for 3 days and got Diluc who I didn't want and was aiming for Keqing. Due to Keqing being a permanent, I had hope to get get her eventually and kept the Diluc account but after 3 years, I still do not have her.

I rerolled on Star Rail for Bronya because I do not want to experience the pain of not getting the character I want since I'll be F2P on Star Rail. Got Bronya on 4th reroll on Departure Warps using my old reroll accounts I made from Genshin before they removed usernames accounts.

If you get a 5 star lightcone from a standard banner, is it included into the character soft/hard pity or are pities for lightcones separate?

One thing I noticed with the standard banner is that I got 3 light cones form it and no characters (Yes I am pissed) With Genshin if you got a weapon you are more likely to get a character next time but if you get a weapon twice in a row your garenteed to get a character next time and visa versa.
