I grew up with the Beach Boys. Loved their harmonies, lyrics, so relatable. Billy Boy

This was a surprise. I thought you were treating yourself to a song from one of your fave bands, but now I see that a patron treated you to it. That was so kind of her. This was a fun r/a. It got me to thinking that dropping one of your favorite songs in the mix every now and then would be fun for subscribers who enjoy your channel for the entertainment aspect rather than just particular artists.

I hope you’ll also do VoicePlay’s version! I like Tim’s too. But The Beach Boys hold a special place in my heart! ❤️🎶

Voice Play did a great rendition of this song as well as Tim Foust, they are worth checking out as well!

Tim Foust of Home Free covered this song all by himself!! I was really hesitant to listen the first time because I was afraid he'd ruin one of the Beach Boys greatest songs but he didn't. His cover is damn good.

The late 60s, the 70s, and the early 80s were my favorite musical era. I grew up hearing some fantastic artists of various genres. The Beach Boys were popular around the time I was just getting interested in bands. The Beatles' appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show was the start (on a black and white television picture). Thanks for the memory. BTW, Pentatonix does a cover of "God Only Knows" from their 2021 Christmas cd. Scott has a habit of including a song or two like this that doesn't really relate to the season but if it mentions anything he thinks will relate, he'll include it (2023 Kiss From a Rose, included because the lyrics contained the word "snow"). There was an actual Tik Tok done by Scott last year trying to come up with a new song for Christmas...cute. That said, a great cover or upgrade as Pentaholics like to say. Thanks so much...sorry for the length. Have a great one. 😊

So many wonderful, good-memory hits from the Boys. VoicePlay's a cappella cover is fabulous!

Very sweet…Love them, love this song. 60’s music is special to me, reflective of a very amazing and challenging decade. Married my surfer boy in the 90’s, and even though we no longer live by the ocean, there’s still a surfboard in the living room 🏄‍♀🌊

I grew up with The Beach Boy's music & had a lot of their records. Brian Wilson was the genius songwriter of the group. They span many decades but I love their early stuff from the 60's-70's. Their music conveys such happy innocent days of youth (surfing, cars, romance). They had tons of hits such as "Surfin' U.S.A.", "Surfin' Safari", "I Get Around", "California Girls", "Help Me, Rhonda", "Barbara Ann", "Wouldn't It Be Nice", "Sloop John B.", "Fun Fun Fun", "Little Deuce Coupe", "God Only Knows" etc.
Tim Foust does a great cover of "In My Room" on his doo-wop album. Hope you check it out.

The Beach Boys served as my intro to pop music, and I've always loved them. Others have mentioned it, but you should check out Voiceplay's cover.

I can't love this song enough. My favorite Beach Boys song ever. This song is a fiber of my being. Sometimes when I hear it, a happy memory will make me smile. Other times, tears. Thanks, Sir and Lori, for giving me another happy memory to connect with this song.

The Beach Boys. YES! Need I say more? Probably not...but I probably will. LOVE THIS SONG! It was released as Track #7 on their "Surfer Girl" album, on Oct. 28, 1963. That was 32 days before I turned 14. At that point in time, I basically heard everything on our trans-oceanic radio, and it was a hit with me from the very first moment I heard it.

I wasn't in "my room" when I first heard it, because my sister Cindi and I (she turned five, 20 days before the song was released) shared a room, and I couldn't get away from much of anything in there, after she was born. Instead, I was in the very small storage area right off of our not-quite-as-tiny kitchen, where the radio was placed so that I could listen to it even when doing my chores. After I had done the dishes, etc., I would be glued to the tiny space right next to the radio. I remember hearing the song for the first time, and thinking, THAT was "my room."

A few months later (on March 27, 1964), the Big Alaska Earthquake took that safe place away from me. However, I spent the rest of that school year in a tiny suburb of Fairbanks, and my friends (with whom I stayed, there) had TV (as well as radio). So I got to both hear AND see them do this song. Talk about thrilled!

GREAT ANALYSIS! One thing that I've always thought about, as well, is when (at around 1:46 in this reaction) the slightly-emphasized first note in each triplet basically becomes the clock ticking in a small room, as the lyrics begin, which is so PERFECT for the song.

Thank you very much, Sir! 😀

I've loved the Beach Boys my entire life. Funny story, one of the times I saw them live was at Jones Beach on Long Island. The boys decided to make a grand entrance to the stage (which juts into the water) by boat. We cheered until it became apparent they had bottomed out the boat and needed help! lol. We all had a good laugh, and then we enjoyed a super concert!

I'd love to see you react to Voiceplay's version of this song. It's unique as usual, with a featured artist named DJ Young who is fabulous 😊

Glen Campbell, musician and guitarist extraordinar temporarily filled Brian Wilson's spot in the Beach Boys. Music critics said most of them didn't know any difference in the Beach Boy's sound.

You should watch Tim Foust's video of this song. He does all of the parts himself!!
