A snack to symbolise longevity and luck, 'ang ku kueh' (translated as red tortoise cake) is a local favourite. It is a steamed sweet snack of glutinous rice with fillings of ground peanut or sweet mung bean. The 'kueh' is handmade in wooden moulds resembling a tortoise's shell, then steamed. ⁣ ⁣

Shop owner, Yang Ying, shares the origins of Ang Mo Kio Nonya Kueh.

#NeighboursOfVillage features stories from Village neighbours near our hotels and serviced residences. Ang Mo Kio Nonya Kueh is a short seven-minute drive from #VillageResidenceHougang.⁣
