We despise accidentally biting into a whole clove when eating biryani, it's so strong! 😫😅

Some dental practices do use clove oil for smaller procedures. Mine did for me, and it was very weird how effective it was and spicy lol

In Germany it's still quite common to chew on it, when having tooth ache.

It’s still used for oral health, just not in most dental offices, a few natural dentists still suggest clove oil and buds for oral health.

Studding an onion with cloves and simmering it in milk makes an amazing fragrant base for many sauces.

It’s a traditional starting point in the UK if you’re making bread sauce for turkey, which is one of my favourite winter comfort foods.

Nah, clove oil is dope. I remember I used to get migraines from my tooth pain. And there’s only so much Ibuprofen you can take. I remember even getting Vicodin and was still in pain. But I read online that Clove oil helps, and turmeric. So I made a mixture of pure clove oil and ground turmeric and put it on the gums around my tooth. It was so good I remember finally sleeping through the night. The clove oil is an analgesic and antiseptic, and the turmeric is anti-inflammatory, both were integral in ensuring my liver survived before I could get the tooth pulled.

I add ground cinnamon, cloves, and fresh nutmeg in my overnight oats. Especially when I'm using apples, peaches, or pears.

Cloves are kind of under appreciated imho. Like most spices you just have to be careful to not use too much, and to remember that some recipes can easily manage with a little less, like how I use star anise in Chinese cooking, use 1/2 to 2/3 because to me its just overpowering. I love that you're giving appreciation to such under loved spices!

Clove stuck in oranges was a thing way before even my grandparents. And, I’m a grandparent. I would see them at Christmas time. They smell wonderful.

Clove oil is still used as a topical anaesthetic today . Eugenol is the compound extracted from cloves that causes this effect. It is also present in other spices like Nutmeg, bay leaves etc. A lot of compounds from plants are still used in medicine, for instance willow bark extract was used to treat heart issues, pains and pimples because it contains salycilic acid. Asprin is derived salicylic acid the scientific formulation of asprin is Acetyl salicylic acid.

Clove oil is literally the best home remedy when you get dental pain in the middle of the night.... And i use Clove pretty much every single day in cooking, i won't say Clove has really sweet flavour but a very mild almost unnoticeable sweet flavour but Cinnamon flavoured yeah, pretty similar. And i kinda agree on a bit of Vanilla ish flavour, use it in desserts, it amplifies the overall flavour of the desserts specially milky

Glad you are able to educate viewers the concept about all the difference of spices. I know how to cook. But never know about the spices behind the cooking. Thank you.

I miss cloves, everybody used to use them all the time.
But they are very strong and do have local anesthetic properties.
They could keep your painful tooth 🦷 under somekind of control, when you were waiting to see your dentist. They also used to pack the hole, where your wisdom tooth was removed from, with clove oil and cotton batting.
It can be intense.
They remain the unsung heroes of the spice world.
Thanks for the trip down memory lane. ☺️🧓🏽✌🏽❤️
