I once saw an elderly couple selling this at the market and used to buy them a few time, then, I just thought "wow, they make this look so neat! " But now that I know how hard it is to actually do this- those elderly couple gain so much respect from me

There was a time my family has to sells coconuts for almost a year and let me tell you now, it takes a few months to learn how to chopped it properly. You need a strong arm and a very well sharpened cleaver to do it safely with a satisfying appearance.

So what they’re doing in this clip is considered an artisan work and frankly I think it worth the increase price

I didn’t realize how little of the coconut was edible! I thought that whole shell part you cut off was good meat. Now I really know what a coconut looks like chopped up and served properly!

Its not just the coconut peeling skill here that's impressive. Its also the ability to spot and pick the coconut at the right age where it can still be cut like this. Too young and the meat will be too thin and fragile. Too old and the meat will be too tough and attached to the pit too much.

As someone in Canada where palm trees don't grow, I remembered looking high and low during any trip to places with palm trees for such things and never found any. Seeing this renews my hope that one day I might find someone selling fresh coconut treats like this!

I swear there is nothing more satisfying than competence. Seeing someone just effortlessly achieve something using skill built up over years of practice is just **chef's kiss**

This is truly an art. Finally I 've known the real shape of the real coconut without the shell. A yummy white ball.

I’ve been feeling down for the past couple of weeks, and watching that little show horn gently and perfectly free that coconut globe from its shell brought me so much unexpected joy ❤️ thank you for this!

It isnt a skill that he probably learned in an hour or something, its an experience of years of cutting a coconut in a certain way

I've never seen the shell of a coconut separated from the meat. That's very pretty.

"Greetings chefs you have 15 minutes to prepare a dessert using only coconuts." This guy just laughs and smokes for two minutes at the start.

Oooooh if anybody's wondering what those cherry looking things are, lots of those grow in my country too
In some parts here they call it Alatiris, or Aratilis, but I found out they're sometimes called Jamaican Cherries, you don't eat the skin (Though from watching the vid, he did eat them, which makes me wanna try that out now), you just pull the stem, then you can see a hole where the stem was, put your lips against the lil' fruit then you squeeze it, or suck it, or do both. it has of very tiny edible seeds, it can taste really really sweet if it's really ripe, or bitter if it isn't ripe enough which is like, greenish still. in a wiki it said it tastes like cotton candy, which I can agree to some degree xD
