Thank you for doing this, it was really helpful. Can you possibly do a video examining a popular youtuber/street preacher making herectical statements about Jesus while talking (witnessing?) to mulsims?? David Lynn is his name.

Forgive me bretheren for any division I may have caused during this live stream. I would like to explain my position on the perpetual virginity of Mary and why I became defensive and left the chat when I was told I HAD to believe Jesus had biological siblings from Mary or I didn’t believe the Bible.

1. It’s not a topic I haven’t studied. I have. If you are not willing to learn why, say, the Roman Catholic Church believes in the perpetual virginity of Mary then I believe you have a blind faith. My mother was raised as a Catholic. My ancestors were servants (indentured servants) of Jesuit Priests. My mother left the Catholic Church BECAUSE of their idolatry of Mary. Being accused of being Catholic is not offensive to me. Anthony did that. I’m not scared to argue a position and when I said, “No, I’m a Reformed Baptist, ” he used that to understand where I was coming from in a more clear way. My position was that I DON’T believe Mary was a perpetual virgin. I kept saying over and over that I didn’t believe she was, but I can’t KNOW that 100%. To then be told I HAVE to believe she wasn’t or I didn’t believe the Bible was HIGHLY OFFENSIVE.. especially when really no one was listening to what I was saying then I was bombarded with questions where people were trying to make me defend a position I didn’t hold. I thought it was twisted and perhaps why the Bible says be quick to listen and slow to speak. One thing you SHOULD NOT DO to a stranger is IMMEDIATELY question their faith in the Bible when it’s actually you who doesn’t understand why I was saying what I was saying.

I ran across the quote from Calvin afterwards where he said that anyone who holds she wasn’t a perpetual virgin as an absolute belief just likes to argue, so I came back. Why did Calvin say what he did? Because it’s not explicitly taught in the Bible that she wasn’t a perpetual virgin. All I kept saying was 100%… 100%… We can’t know the answer absolutely 100%. So my belief in the Bible was challenged and then I was accused of starting “fights” because I said THEY were causing division for no reason. I still never threw shade on anybody’s faith, Christianity, nor belief in the Bible.

So I found Calvin’s quote, I believe, due to divine providence. Because God will defend His saints.

Just keep in mind what I said about Luther, Zwingli, and Wesley believing in the perpetual virginity. I’m more in line with Calvin. Although I’m convinced she wasn’t a perpetual virgin, and he didn’t even say that. I don’t know for sure, but I have heard the arguments from the other side. I never referenced tradition, the Protoevangelium of James, or anything outside of Scripture. There may be some people who need to study the SCRIPTURAL reasons why there is doubt. Some people may also need to learn the difference between being certain and being convinced.

Anyway, I was not offended by anything Anthony said, and he actually knew exactly what I was talking about when I brought up the quote by Calvin. That was awesome. But I wasn’t defending the perpetual virginity of Mary. I was defending the lack of possibility for COMPLETE CERTITUDE on the topic.

Be blessed.

Hey Anthony, will you be doing that livestream you mentioned about the active obedience of Christ as that which is imputed in justification? I heard an EO make a comment recently that it has to be God’s own divine righteousness that is bestowed on us otherwise God could have had a very powerful angel do what Christ did which would undermine the Protestant position. I thought it’d be interesting to hear your thoughts on this.
