Guild F-512 12 String Demo with Trevor Menear

Famously played by Tom Petty, David Gilmour and Stevie Ray Vaughan, we defined the 12-string sound in the 1960s and these iconic guitars continue to be the most sought after 12-string models today. The F-512, made in Southern California, continues this legacy through a jumbo shape, solid AAA Sitka spruce top and solid Indian rosewood back and sides.

Braced with delicate, scalloped Adirondack spruce, this model produces shimmering highs, singing mids and a warm, focused bass response that truly sets it apart. Decorated with Guild’s classic MOP V-block inlays, railroad track fingerboard purfling, and fully bound traditional headstock, players will feel like they are holding a piece of history while starting their own. The F-512 is finished with Nitrocellulose and is available in Natural or Antique Burst with the option of an LR Baggs pickup. Comes in a premium hardshell humidified case.

A friend and I played a Guild 12 String (not sure what model) in a small shop in Vermont roughly 25 years ago....it was around $1100...which may as well have been $11, 000 to me back I still kick myself for not having the cash to buy my buddy still brings up that guitar to this sounded almost magical. To both our ears it completely blew away the other 12 strings they had there (which I remember included some Martins and Taylors....which weren't bad guitars in their own right...but that Guild was something)

holy hell...that's one of the nicest 12-string acoustics I've ever heard. I've always loved the look of the burst version of these, but that SOUND! excellent playing too Trevor, thank you!

I've never been impressed by acoustic guitars, but I can't stop watching demos of this one...

I started playing 12 string in 1986 and found Guild to be the best.

I have the F512 antique burst one of the most beautiful acoustics I've ever seen and sounds as good as it looks, they sound amazing.

I believe that the 12-string Guilds are the best sounding 12-string acoustics on the market by far. I still have the 6-string version of this Guild that I purchased new in 1981.

I just got a 1981 Guild D212 and I absolutely love it. Guild needs to bring back 12-strings with the laminated back. Those give the guitar so much power. I do need to either replace the bridge pins or have the action raised on the 12 slightly because I’m hearing some buzzing on the bridge. Thoughts anyone?

Hello guys,

I always have been a great fan of Guild acoustic guitars, however never had one, until one day my cousin let me try his 3 models...blown away by its sound, it changed my perspective forever!

Now, I am just starting to learn first and after that, I am going to buy a Guild Jumbo 12 string.

I have been looking online(however didn't find anything solid), I am trying to learn and understand Jumbo models, and specs of each model because I don't know the differences between models.

Basically, my personal taste would be a Guild 12 jumbo full body (non cutaway) all solid, chesterfield logo headstock, solid top(any wood which matches cedar in color?) solid rosewood back and sides, satin-finish neck, discrete inlay(not dots), mother of pearl rosette, but not new.
Picky huh?

I would like to know which models were available, which types of wood were used back there, inlays available, specs wise and etc.

Can you suggest any link, or provide reading material to learn all the differences between the models? Or even if you can tell me the whole story.

Thank you so much!

Best regards,

Ben.

O.M.G. Nearly died of astonishment listening to this. Just the kind of 12-string sound I always wanted but never found. So many assume all 12-strings sound more or less the same. But this is a whole other level altogether. Like I could jam on this for hours and hours and always discover new things. And what is that gorgeous tuning?
