I've been making nut butters using a cheaper food processor successfully, and the key is letting the machine rest for a few minutes after each minute of running, like another commenter also mentioned. Do this if you don't want to ruin the motor. It also prevents the nuts from getting too hot. Overall it'll take longer but it's better safe than sorry.

I already changed 3 containers. Vitamix said you can't make a butter running the machine for more than 1 min. otherwise the connector (I don't know how it calls) pops out from the bottom of the cup and it becomes wobbly.
from Haydee:
"Our repair technician received your machine for service and it is working on it right now. He called me to advised me why you are having the problem. You are making nut butters and you are running the machine too long. When processing nut butters you cannot run machine more than one minute. If you run machine too long the container gets very hot and it will start to melt causing the blade to melt into the container. "

Tried it and seriously thought my Vitamix was about to explode, but it was fine and the almond butter turned out great!

I tried this yesterday. Toasted the 4 cups for 10minutes, let them cool, etc. But I started on speed 10 and it took exactly one minute and I got the most magical almond butter. Not runny but not too thick. Perfection!

I've been making homemade almond butter in my Vitamix for about 15 years now, which I started doing because nobody was selling organic sprouted almond butter at the time, let alone even regular, non-organic almond butter. I used to have to buy organic almonds, sprout and dehydrate them, then blend them down in the Vitamix. We've come a long was since then, and now you can buy sprouted almonds, almond butter, organic sprouted almonds, organic almond butter, and even sprouted organic almond butter (which is the most difficult to find and quite expensive). Roasting the almonds first makes for the best flavor and texture, but I don't mind losing a little bit of that the way I make mine (if using sprouted almonds, it's best to go slow so it doesn't get too hot while blending them in the vitamix). Also, Vitamix's have come a long way since I bought mine in 2008!- nut butter and cleaning cycle settings?! Great video!

Thanks for showing every step including using a spatula, the grit, and cleanup smoothie.

the newer Vitamix blenders are probably quieter than my 7500, but I recommend wearing ear protection when making vitamix nut butters. It takes a while, is loud, and needs constant tampering! It’s so worth it but please keep your hearing!

Macadamia nuts are so beautiful done like this I think it’s nicer than any other ones I’ve ever made

1 tip. To cool it faster. Keep another baking tray ready. Just shift them onto that tray and slide into the fridge.

This is great. I needed some for some banana ice cream. I will try! Also get on the funnel train (so many sizes and shapes) so you don’t have to pick up almonds.

Thank you!!
Vitamix woohoo 🙌

Just made it, I roasted the almonds, used 4 cups.
It took 3.5 mins to get a peanut butter texture on speed 10.

Tastes amazing.
Thanks for sharing the video😊

Love this recipe. Have made it several times! Not sure I would say I would NEVER buy store bought almond butter again though as Natural Grocers and Whole Foods make almond butter that is very similar to this. Thanks for the vid!

I've never tried this with my vita mix. I've made sunflower 🌻 seed butter in a coffee grinder. I'm excited to make almond butter. This video is super helpful.

i make mine usually between 1.5 to 2 mins.. I was scared at first but finally understood vitamix lol. I make it a point that it's not less than 4 cups.. the more the nuts, the better it blend.. and just blend it at max! works all the time.

I know I’m thinking ahead, but I plan on using my Vitamix to make my Christmas gifts this year 😇 A little bundle of homemade bread, home made jam, and homemade almond butter, made all cute and cozy!

Thank you for sharing! I made some almond butter in my Vitamix, and it turned out great! The only difference is that I roasted some cocoa beans, I took half a tea spoon of brown sugar and crushed it to powder, and also added 100% vanilla extract to it, and it turned out delicious! I might try out making regular almond butter one day, but I think I'll be repeating that experimental recipe I decided to try once again once I finish it :)
