Показать описание
Today, nearly 70,000 tons of nuclear waste sits outside nuclear power plants across the country. For the last half-century, scientists and politicians have struggled to create a viable solution for permanent waste disposal at Yucca Mountain, located 90 miles outside Las Vegas. They've failed. As the political dust settles over Yucca, eyes turn to the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, outside of Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Politicians should NOT be debating or deciding these issues... it should only be scientists!

The mini-documentaries are really really good, short enough to appeal to all attention spans, packed with information and very thought provoking.

I'm always surprised by how bad we are at recovering energy from sources of low level radiation. It seems like like throwing out a 1/4 full propane tank.

I don't understand why Nevadans would object to Yucca Mountain... it just comes down to the "not in my backyard" mentality, even though it's 90 miles in the middle of nowhere. Sad how some people put personal preference over the greater good.

Great video.

I Live right Next to Huge Piles of Nuclear waste.
Leaving the Waste in the Middle of Populated areas is a Lot worse then moving them to a Mountain.

And to think back in the 1950's and 1960's they used to just toss it out at sea 90 miles east of Norfolk, Va!

The reason for all this negative advertising just recently is that Gen IV nuclear reactors can burn classic Gen II and III waste and nuclear weapons waste. These people don't want us to see Gen IV nuclear reactors, and are willing to risk our safety to interfere with their development.

I love these, what I'm going to call, ediotrial videos. They are so fun to not only read articles but watch them, and not just reviews only.

How do you solve the "I'm too important to have this in my back yard" attitude! put it somewhere else!
Well, sunshine! there is NO OTHER PLACE! It is your mess! time to take responsibility for it!

closed for several yrs. due to a spill that cost millions to clean. Re opened in 2017. This is insane. Spill was due to a contractor using organic kitty litter in a barrel of waste instead of inorganic kitty litter. WHAT?

I remember scientists saying the nuclear waste from reactors could be refined again to make more N. fuel, and the only thing holding them back was the fear of transporting the waste to the refineries. This would reduce the amount of waste .
