Coming from construction (concrete, framing and roofing specifically) this is the easiest job I’ve ever had it’s like a vacation I love it so much 😭 but I definitely understand this could be hell on earth to someone who doesn’t have a extremely high tolerance to physical labor and extreme heat. Been a picker for 5 months now and couldn’t be happier but it’s most certainly not for everyone. Try out different things especially when you’re young and find what works for you 💪🏻 much love to everyone

I'm a current Amazon employee for 5 months now. I don't work at the fulfillment center but I work at the delivery station here in the state of CA. Because California is the 1st state to pass a law in regards to warehouse quotas, the delivery station and other fulfillment centers are dropping the rates. The managers aren't gonna make you work yourself to death. Me and everyone at the delivery station work at our own pace. And the delivery station is much more simple than I expected.

I been working at Amazon as a packer in AFE 1(sometimes they force me to work at singles) for a little over a year. All the text that’s on the screen are my thoughts every day.

I just wanna complain about this job for a sec lol.
Sometimes theres stuff in the shelfs that are wayyy to snug in there and it takes me SO LONG to get them out 😩.... Then sometimes it's a packet of soda or WATER (WHO ORDERS WATER ONLINE???) . BRO and kitty litter is so dam heavy??? THEN THEY'RE EITHER AT THE VERY BOTTOM OR VERRY TOP ... I just stand there for a few seconds just mentally preparing myself for certain death 💀... Lmaoooo also when they have a whole crap ton of items that look exactly the same but AREN'T??- in the same slot and u have to stand there hands full scanning every one till u find the one u need. (For example rubber ring packets, lipstick or small make-up products, rolled up posters, single mask packets, GIFT CARDS (THEY BE HAVING LIKE 50 IN A TINY SLOT AND THEYRE ALL DIFFERENT STORES AND RESTAURANTS 😭😂...
also why are tiny car parts so heavy, I almost drop them every time cuz I underestimate the weight....

Idk how y'all keep a faster rate with all these things coming in all the time... I have like a 11-10 sec rate and the normal is 9 ??? HOW.??

Some of the pros are getting to play Tetris all day. getting squeaky toys passing ur station that can provide a release of stress when squished. Getting a big stuffed animal that u can quickly hug while carrying it for a sense of comfort, getting a halarious item that makes u laugh like a meme poster or sticker. O picking an item that u know is completely useless and a waste of money.. having no shelfs coming to your station for a few seconds of rest (I sit on the safety bars that are behind u on the station since it's a bit of an elevated floor).

Anyways that was more than a second.

As a picker they are going to destroy your back loading up carts with extremely heavy bags with multiple overweight packages.BEWARE!!!

So as a picker is the job basically standing in the one area all shift and taking items off the carts that are rolling by? I'm curious because I have applied for this position.

this job actually seems very easy given your position at your specific amazon warehouse. all you do is (what i assume) grab a random bag/box, put it in the yellow bin that is highlighted green. wave the green off to let the machine know you put it there. and when it reaches a certain weight/number? it asks you to push it forward and you pick a new bin from on top. i’m just curious as to what the green buttons represent, do they order based on size or fragility? and do you randomly grab from the carts to your right or is there a specific order to grab?

Seems to have slightly better mood this time. The items are not flying as far as usual.
This job seems to require a very stoic nature and good shoes.
And when you are not able to focus for hours, you will constantly get the "wrong item" beep... which is pretty frustrating when it happens.

I was a packer only. I heard it was lonely and depressing as a picker. You’re always working alone. I mean when i used to work at amazon. we pack and or sort or problem solve. We still gotta make rate of course. But can still talk to people we kind of know of course. This looks so sad. Actually. It used to be way cooler 2 years ago. People could work with their work buddies, as long as we make rate. But i think that was because of covid? Now people gotta share pack with random coworkers, whatever the new system.

I tore my feet to shreds doing this for 5 months, never again. I stayed high as a kite the entire time so that helped🤣🤣😳

My 3rd day a guy came to me showing me a bootlethat was damaged and just so happens that it "Spilled" on 5 different items in that tote. My question is, am I allowed to ask for a pic or something??? Cuz I know for damn sure that didn't pass me by. Liers or the opposite end fuckd up on there part.

Hit the button before you put the item in the tote, seriously it will reduce your takt time SO much. also quit bending at the waist you're gonna destroy your back, trust me it's not worth it. take the extra .2 seconds to kneel on one knee for low items.

The thing i want in a job is to leave early. My health suffers when I stay up late.

Well you seem to be lucky..don't see you picking multiples of any item or having to clear out the bin and scan everything if item isn't found. Or.. is this a kind of single pick location? And also didn't see you struggling to remove any large items that seems like they had been jammed in. Or...didn't see you dragging out the vinyl records and scanning several to find the right one.... I'm blaming all that on me as newbie hitting only 13-14 secs and feeling like a zombie at the end of my 10 hour shift....Thanks for showing the process though as it gives me something to compare with.

I am a picker… we don’t throw orders in the totes. We are thought to place them and secure that they get delivered to packers in proper manner. The lines take up to an hour to take the product to its final destination. It is hard work . But it gets harder when you don’t love the customers…most of workers don’t. They love $$$$.

$20 an hour where is this facility? I'm a picker and I don't make $20 an hour.
Yep go go go go!!! At the end of the day I'm exhausted. My legs are so sore. This is fact as a picker.🙄😟
