I'm honored to share this tribute to all the movements of 2020 in response to racial injustice and police brutality. I was nervous because I wasn't sure how these three pieces would fit together and I was basically arranging as I recorded! I was inspired by the work of artists during Black Music Month and I wanted to get this out as soon as possible with limited time!

"Redemption Song" is originally by Bob Marley and to me, the words always painted a picture of the slave trade of Africans during colonization but related to present oppression that we still face.

"By the Rivers of Babylon" is a Rastafari song by members of The Melodians, a reggae group. However, this particular version is inspired by "Holy Mount Zion" by Dr. Andrew Marshall and the words are originally about the exile of the Jews in the Bible (Psalm 137). Here is a link to what the harmony SHOULD be lol.

Marley Symphony No. 1 - Arranged by Jon Williams is a medley of Bob Marley's songs set to orchestra. Here is the full performance link:

The portrait of Elijah McClain, one of the most undeserving victims of police brutality is from Instgram user, @jumzart.

I hope the whole piece gives you all the intended thoughts and feelings and hopefully one day I can do a fully structured tribute.

Breonna Taylor was brutally shot and killed by police in her own home. She did nothing wrong. Take action here:
