The Cleftones singing "Blue Velvet back in 1993.

Lyrics:

She wore blue velvet (Woah-woah)
Bluer than velvet was the night (Woah-woah-woah)
Softer than satin was the light
From her eyes
She wore blue velvet (Woah-woah)
And as the light danced do did I
Warmer than May, her tender sighs
Love was ours
Ours, a love we held tightly
Feeling the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
Oh but when she left gone was the glow of
Blue velvet (Woah-woah)
And in my heart there'll always be (Woah-woah-woah)
Precious and warm a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet through my tears
Ours, a love we held tightly
Watching the rapture grow
Like a flame burning brightly
Oh but when she left gone was the glow of
Blue velvet (Woah-woah)
But in my heart there'll always be (Woah-woah-woah)
Precious and warm a memory
Through the years
And I still can see blue velvet through my tears
I still can see blue velvet through my tears.

Herbie Cox had a great voice. He died at 81 of Alzheimers in 2019 in Georgia. Through the years, I had the good fortune of seeing him perform. He gave those of us who appreciate it, great vocal group harmony backed with the rest of the Cleftones. I always say that people like him you kinda wish they would live forever. Barring that, we are fortunate and continue to listen to him through his recordings. Rest in peace, Mr. Cox.
