My eventual goal is to get a scooter and drive the entire philippines staying in one section for a month then move to another section for a solid year untill I get a top 3 area then go back to those areas to pick my retirement location.

Tetired expat living in Thailand 6 1/2 years. Had mcycles, never did a road trip. Wife says no.
In theory sounds great. But car much better. We travel all over Tland. Great roads, reasonable hotels.
Be careful, safe travels.
