In an interview with FRANCE 24, former Israeli prime minister Ehud Olmert said Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu was ultimately to blame for the shocking death of six more hostages in Gaza over the weekend. Israel says the six hostages were "brutally murdered by Hamas terrorists", something the group denies. "They were killed by Hamas," Olmert said. But "Netanyahu is responsible for the erosion that led to the killing of these six people, and the killing of many others that were found before, and the ones that will be killed tomorrow and the day after tomorrow", he added.

It has been apparent from the beginning, that the only way to secure the release of the hostages, was by negotiations! It’s how the first hostages were released, and it’s the only way the rest will be released ! Netanyahu has consistently refused to accept a reasonable settlement ! The notion that the IDF will stay at the Egyptian border is totally unacceptable, to the Egyptians, the Palestinians, and to international law ! He is using this sticking point to implement The Hannibal Protocol version 2 ! To date the IDF has killed more hostages than they have rescued.

Blaming Netanyahu for the death of hostages is only half of the blame; the other half of the blame goes to the Israeli people who elected Netanyahu to be their PM time and again, knowing in advance that time and again Netanyahu was a reckless leader. The more Netanyahu stayed in office the more dictatorial he became.
Thus, the ultimate blame must be placed on the Israeli people who kept choosing a reckless, corrupt and genocidal maniac.

Please send Mr Olmert a decent microphone. For a flagship interview show, his audio is pretty bad.

Why even listen to his opinion? This ex PM was convicted and served time in prison. His opinion doesn't mean anything.

The most dangerous thing for Israeli hostages is when the IDF is coming to rescue them because they're NOT. It's like waiting for Hannibal Lecter to come to them.

Actually, the entire population in Israel is to blame for the deaths of the hostages and all the civilians killed in Gaza and West Bank. They have shown, based on polls, that the general public is happy about the destruction in Gaza and West Bank and how the IDF is conducting this war.

Why should Hamas kill the hostages? They are more valuable for Hamas if they were alive. I am sure they were killed by the IDF and they blame Hamas for justifying all the killings and brutality...

None of those who pressures Israel for accepting "a deal" with Hamas has said publicly what terms and conditions are included in "the deal" they pressure Israel to accept. They can mean anything with "a deal".

Where is the pressure towards Hamas from all those who are now pressuring Israel to accept their "mystery" deal with Hamas? And why none of them have been willing or able to reveal the content of their "mystery" deal they pressure Israel to accept?

There is no logic and there is no sense in my opinion in pressuring Israel to accept "a deal" without telling the content of "the deal" they pressure Israel to accept.

Prime Minister Netanyahu is doing a job very, very few people would know how to navigate through and history will judge his performance through the lens of time. The unguarded Philadelphia Corridor is the reason why GAZA is riddled with tunnels and packed with rockets and terrorists who can hide below the radar so-to-speak and strike at will. There are no angels in any military conflict, but for HAMAS to say that they murdered the 6 innocent hostages because Netanyahu did not agree to a cease-fire is absurd and insulting to the human community writ large.

Ehud Olmert has been a rational and consistent voice coming out of Israel.
